Chapter 25

Karen had to hold back her own tears as she told him what had happened.  “When you brought her in we thought it was just a miscarriage.  But we ran a blood test and we found a high level of toxins.   In normal levels it’s just a sedative but because she hadn’t eaten anything and because of what it was mixed with it became a poison.  The baby was so small it couldn’t survive long enough for us to treat it.”  Jason melted into a fresh wave of sobs.  “I’m sorry Jason.”  Karen’s voice was just above a whisper.  Karen couldn’t believe what she was seeing, as long as she had known Jason, she had never seen him cry, not even the old Jason.

Jason took a deep breath and ran his has through his hair.  With tears still streaming down his face he looked up at Karen.  “Robin doesn’t know, does she?”

“No, I just found out, and I thought it would be best if you told her.”  Jason nodded his head in silent agreement.  He looked into the window of Robin’s room and saw that she was awake again.

Jason went back into the room.  One look at Robin and he teared up again.  “Robin.”  Jason choked out.

Robin looked at him puzzled, he was fine before she had fallen asleep, but now it looked like he had been crying.  She wondered if there had been news about Erin.

She held her arms out and Jason walked over to her and enveloped her in a tight hug, all Jason wanted to do was hold her.  They just sat there for a moment holding each other.  Jason finally pulled away and looked into her eyes.

Robin could see a deep pain in his eyes, a deeper pain then she had ever seen.  “Jason, what’s wrong?”  Jason didn’t say anything; he just ran his hand through her hair and looked at her with new tears coming to his eyes.  Robin brushed the tears away.  “Jason what is it?  You can tell me.”

“I talked to Karen and…” Jason couldn’t say anything, tears choked out his words.  Jason took her hand in his and kissed it.  He held her small hand in both of his hands.  She looked so small lying there.  Jason took a deep breath and felt the strength her love gave him.  “Karen told me that you didn’t just faint.”  Jason started again, his voice trembling.  “They found traces of toxin in your blood stream, she thinks you were poisoned.”  Jason paused again trying to come up with the words.

“Why would someone want to poison me?”  Robin asked confused.

“I don’t think it was meant for you.  I think it was meant for Erin, because the only way it could have happened was at the cottage.  If used normally it’s just a sedative, but because you hadn’t eaten anything and because of what it was mixed with it became a poison.”

“Okay,” Robin could feel that Jason was still holding something back.  “What else?  Jason, there’s something you’re not telling me, what is it?”

“It’s…” Tears started to stream down his face again and his voice was shaking.  “It’s the baby.”

“Oh, my god,” Robin covered her mouth with her hand.  “No, no, it can’t be, not our baby.  Please God no.”  Robin closed her eyes; the pain was evident on her face.  “Why did this have to happen to us?  Why us?  Why can’t we ever just be happy?”  Robin wailed, anger was beginning to build in her voice.  She got out of the bed and walked over to the dresser.  She leaned her hands on it and began to cry; anger began to build in her again.  Finally the anger became too much for her, she screamed in anger, pain, and anguish.

Jason ran over to her, she spun around and began to beat Jason on the chest.  “Why did this have to happen to us?  Why?  Why?”  Robin begged.

Jason didn’t have an answer for her all he could do was pull her against him and cry along with her.  They held onto each other for dear life, all their plans were falling apart around them.  Robin cried with all she had left.  Jason felt Robin’s knees give way underneath her, but she didn’t stop crying.  Jason scooped her up into his arms and carried her to the bed, Robin wouldn’t let go of him so he just sat down with her on his lap, and rocked her back and forth.  Eventually she fell asleep and Jason was able to put her into bed.  He sat down in the chair next to her and just watched her sleep, Jason vowed to himself that he would find out who had done this to them and he would make them pay dearly for it.

Karen looked at her watch and saw that it was long past visiting hours, and she knew for a fact that Jason hadn’t left Robin’s room.  Karen told the other nurses to leave Jason a lone and to let him stay, she knew better then to try to separate Jason from Robin, especially after what they had just found out.

Lucky and Liz’s apartment

Lucky took Jason back to his and Liz’s place so he could use his own computer.  “It might take a little bit but I will be able to hook into the tracking system.”  Lucky told Sonny.  Liz sat near by listening to what they were doing.  Lucky had filled her in on what had happened.  She couldn’t believe that Erin had been kidnapped again.  She said a silent prayer that God would watch over Erin and keep her safe.

An hour later Lucky was typing feverishly on the computer.  “I’m going to need the serial number off her watch before I can get a lock on her, you wouldn’t happen to know what it is would you?”  Lucky asked.

“No, I don’t.  Why don’t we try paging her and see if she can send us the number?”  Sonny suggested.

“It’s worth a try.”  Lucky started typing in his computer again.

“What are you doing?”  Sonny asked.

“Oh, I uploaded the program into my computer, this way we can type the messages on the computer instead of trying to use that little watch.”  Lucky said with a sigh.
