Chapter 9
The cottage
Nik could
hear Erin stomping around up stares. Erin hadn’t said anything the whole boat ride and the only thing
she said in the car was when she asked Renaldo to turn up the heat.
Nik had
gathered all his things and had put them in the car that was weighting for
them. Jason had gone on ahead to make
sure that everything was set at the penthouse.
Nik had
just got back in the house when he heard a crash up stares; it has sounded like
it came from Erin’s room. Nik ran up the
stares and into Erin’s
room.
Erin was standing in the middle of the
room fuming, at her feet was what was left of a
mirror. “Why did you do that?” Nik asked form the
doorway.
“I was mad,
okay? I do that when I get mad, I break
things.” Nikolas
just looked at her dumbfounded, he had never seen this
side of her.
Nik
walked over to Erin
and put a hand on her shoulder. “It’s
going to be okay.” Nikolas said reassuringly.
Erin shrugged off his touch
angrily. “Why can’t people just let me
be mad? Why does everyone have to tell
me everything is going to be okay?” Erin shouted. “Things are not going to be okay! 1, I’m being stalked. 2, this guy knows everything about me. 3, everyone is lying to me, everyone keeps
telling me that everything is okay. Do
you really believe that or are you just saying it to make me feel better? Cuse if you’re
trying to make me feel better you’re not helping!” Erin picked up a glass vase and threw it against the wall,
shattering it into a million pieces. Erin felt like that was what was
happening to her, her life falling apart and she couldn’t do anything to stop
it. Erin broke down and started to cry, great
gut wrenching sobs. She lowered herself
slowly to the floor and cried.
Nik
walked over to her and kneeled down next to her. He carefully put his arms around her and
rocked her back and forth. Erin put her arms around his neck and
just cried into his collar.
Erin pulled away and wiped her eyes with
the back of her hand. “Why do you stay
around me? I’m just one walking disaster
weighting to happen.”
Nikolas
took Erin by toe shoulders to get her
attention. She looked at him once and
then found her hands instantly fascinating.
Nikolas lifted her shin so she was forced to
look at him. “Listen to me,” she started
sternly. “Nun of this is your fault you
hear me? Some sicko
has decided to make your life a living hell and I’m not going to sit by and let
that happen.”
Erin looked at him and smiled
weakly. “The reason your
sticking around is to make sure that this loony doesn’t screw up my life? Well I’ve got news for you, my life was
screwed up long before this guy came along and it will be screed up long after
he’s gone. That’s the price for being a
‘mob princess’.” Erin spat out. She hated that term, but what could she do,
that’s what she was.
“Erin, are you really that blind? Do you really think that’s why I’ve been
dating you for the past year, why I’ve been living with you for six
months? If you think that then you are
crazy,” Nikolas took her face in his hands. “Look I love you. That’s why I’m here, and I’m not going any
were. Come on, let’s get your cloths
together and get you out of here. Did
you forget anything?”
Erin stood up with Nikolas
and looked around. “Yah, there is one
think I forgot.” She looked up at Nikolas and smiled.
“What? I’ll get it for you.”
“No need,
it’s right here,” Erin
stood on tiptoe and put her arms around Nikolas’
neck. “You.” Erin whispered as she kissed him long and hard. Nikolas hesitated a
moment and kissed her back with the same intensity. One hand lost it’s self in her hair and the
other one rested lightly on the lower of her back.
Erin opened her mouth slowly, Nikolas look the invitation and slid his tongue into her
mouth. His tongue explored the inside of
her mouth, her teeth, the inside of her cheek, and finally her toung. Erin’s tough reacted timidly at her but
slowly grew bolder.
They pulled
apart both out of breath. “Wow,” Erin sighed
in-between gasps for breath. She moved
her lips to his more slowly then last time.
“I think I’m going to get used to this.”
Erin’s voice was deep, thoroughly, and
extremely sexy.
Nikolas
moaned her name; this was almost too much.
He knew if they didn’t stop things could get out of hand, and very
quickly. Before either of them realized
it, they were making their way to Erin’s bed at the other end of the room. In a matter of moments they were on Erin’s bed and kissing passionately; Nikolas on top of her with his hands once again tangled in
her hair.
Erin’s mind was racing. What were they doing? They were on her bed; no one in the house,
and they were headed…
Nikolas
was the one who pulled away. He sat up
and looked at her breathlessly. “I think
we’re going to have to talk about this.”
He said indicating the bed.
“Yah,
things seem to be getting,” Erin paused, “serious.”
She finished with a slight blush.
“I don’t
think either of us are ready for this,” Nikolas paused trying to find the right words. Finally his voice came back soft and
slow. “We have a lot of time ahead of us
for sex,” Nikolas choked out. “And I don’t want to rush you into
anything. My last relationship we went
to far to fast and it got all screwed up, I don’t want that to happen with us
so I think we should just take things slow form here on out. You are the most important thing to me and I
don’t want to jeopardize that in any way,” Nikolas
looked at Erin; his concern shining through his
eyes. “Do you understand what I’m trying
to say?”
Erin brushed her hand along the side of
his face. Her eyes were brimming with
tears. “Of corse
I understand what you are saying. I was
thinking the same thing; we need to take things slow. There’s no need to rush, we have our hole lives ahead of us.”
“I’m glad
that you feel the same way.”
“Speaking
of taking things slow, how long have we been up here?” Erin asked.
“About half an hour. Why?”
“Because I
think our driver is still out side weighting for us. And we better get going before he gets
worried and calls Jason.”
