Chapter 4
Liz’s apartment

Liz is sitting on their bed starring off into space.  She could still hardly believe that her and Lucky were going to announce their engagement.  She absently played with the ring around her finger.

“A penny for your thoughts?”  Lucky asked sitting behind her on the bed, he slowly began to massage her neck and shoulders.

“Oh, sure.  Now you get cheep on me,” Liz teased.  “So what should I weir to this engagement announcement.  The only other one I’ve been to was Stefan and Katherine’s, and I’m pretty sure that this one is going to be nothing like it; at least that’s what I’m hoping.”

“What you don’t want to weir one of the huge dresses?  I think you would look good in one of those.  But seriously you would look beautiful in anything you weir.”  Lucky kissed Liz softly on the neck for reassurance.

“It’s not the cloths that I’m worried about.  It’s the outcome of the last one.  I don’t want to take a nose dive out a window.”  Liz said.

A chill ran down her back when she remembered that night.  They hadn’t seen Katherine fall but then again, just the thought of someone almost getting killed because Helena wanted control of Nik.  She had never gone to trial but it was common knowledge that she had been the one to loosen the rail.  Stefan had kicked her out of the family until she told him that Katherine was still alive, but he would never see her unless she was let back into the family.

She was let back into the family but at last she had gotten what she deserved six months ago after she had Erin kidnapped.  The official story was that she had been killed by one of her own men, and in a way she had; Lucky had told her that it was Stefan who had killed her.  Serve her right; getting killed by her own son; the son she had considered her good-for-nothing son.

“Then how about we don’t go anywhere near a window with a railing.  But don’t worry.  There is nothing in this world that can ruin this evening for us.  How about you weir that new black dress of yours?  You know the one with the roses on the top?”

“I bet that’s what Stefan and Katherine thought.”  Liz said, not quiet hearing everything Lucky said.

“What?  Don’t go there,” Lucky said softly.  He turned her so that she was facing him.  “This is going to be our night okay?  No one is going to ruin it for us.  And that means that you have to forget all about all those bad thoughts and only think good things.  Now get up, we have a party to get ready for.”

Liz smiled mischievously.  “The party isn’t for another three hours.  What do you want to do, get all dressed up and just sit around for two hours?”

Lucky smiled and decided to play along.  “Well, yah.  What else is there to do?  We can help each other dress.  That way you can’t complain about what I weir.”

“Oh, so now you want to help me dress?  I can think of something a little more fun.”

“Oh and what is that?”

“How about helping me undress?  I hear that’s more fun.”  Liz’s eyes danced.

“How could I resist an invitation like that?”  Lucky began to unbutton Liz’s shirt then he got an idea.  He began to kiss Liz and when she least expected it; he started to tickle her mercilessly.

Liz laughed as she tried to fend off Lucky’s attacks.  Liz was able to get out of his grip long enough to get halfway across the room before Lucky grabbed her around the waist and picked her up.  Liz squirmed until she was facing him and started her own attack.  Liz caught him off guard and he had to let go of her so he could protect himself.

This continued on for half an hour; neither of them gaining the advantage.  In the end the stronger prevailed.  Lucky had a hold of Liz’s wrists in one hand and tickled her with the other.  “You give?”  Lucky asked laughing.

“Yes I give.”  Liz said breathlessly.

Lucky let go of her writs and sat down on the bed, pulling her down with him.  He brushed some hair out of her face and kissed her temples.  “Is it just me or is it getting hot in here?”  Lucky joked.  “How about we take a walk?”

“You want to take a walk?”  Liz asked giving him a funny look.

“Yah, it will give us some time to talk.  Besides I think you need some fresh air, you’re looking a little flustered.”

Liz sighed and got up off of Lucky’s lap,  Okay, let’s go for a walk.”  Liz smiled and reached out to him.

Lucky took her hand and stood up.  He got her coat and helped her into it and put his on as well.
