One Way Street
Chapter One
Brenda’s cottage
Brenda came down the stares
from her office and walked into the kitchen.
“You got up early this morning, you were up before I even go here. Something going on that I should know
about?” Brenda gave the teenager a knowing
smile.
“Nothing that you should
worry about, Nik and I are just going out for a picnic. How did you sleep last night?”
Brenda rubbed her belly and
sighed. “I swear this little one is
going to be a kick-boxer when he grows up, the way he was kicking me last
night. Then again, if it’s a girl we
won’t have to worry about anyone picking on her,” Brenda smiled at the
thought.
“I was just thinking. No one would dare pick on her with Jax as her
father and you as her mother.”
“Yah, your probably
right. Jax would scare anyone senseless
if they tried anything,” Brenda and Erin enjoyed a few good jokes about Jax’s
protective nature. “So where are you and
Nikolas going to go for you’re picnic?”
“Just out in the woods here,
I don’t want to go too far from you.”
“I don’t need you to baby
sit me. I’m a big girl.” Brenda said rolling her eyes.
“I know that,”
“You don’t have to do that
“I know but you’re going to
have one and that can be twice as bad.”
Brenda gave her a silly
look. “And how would you know that may I
ask?”
A look of sadness came over
her face and settled like a dark cloud.
“Because I had a baby brother and I remember how my mother got when she
was pregnant.”
“I didn’t know you have a
brother. How come he didn’t come to live
with you?”
“Because he’s dead,”
Brenda reached over and took
“No, I don’t mind you
asking. Our house caught on fire and
somehow I was able to make it out, but no one went in after Mike. They thought that the fire started in his
room, that’s probably why no one when in after him.”
“That’s awful, did your
father ever know that he had a son?”
Brenda asked, saddened by the story.
“No, it was probably better
that way. He had lost so many people in
his life, that knowing that he had had a son who had died before he could ever
meat him, would have been to hard for him.
I remember how he was when he lost my mother. They may have been divorced but he still
lover her, and I didn’t want to be the one to tell him about a son that he
didn’t even know he had.”
“It must have been torture to
not tell your father.” Brenda said
sadly.
“No it wasn’t that bad. I thought of how my father had to keep
secrets from me for my own good, and justified it by saying I was keeping this
secret for his own good,”
Unknown to the women, a
shadowed figure stood behind a near by tree and watched them. “Well, my dear this little bit of news if
going to be something that I will just have to share,” he pulled out a cell
phone. “Gass up the plane, I have a
little erron to run in
Some where in
A man lay a bed covered in
bandages. There were doctors all around
him. “So what do you think his chances
of recovery are?” A woman asked the head doctor.
“I don’t know, he has been
in a coma for over six moths, but his vitals are improving every day, so I
think he has a good chance.”
Brenda’s cottage
Nik put the basket down and
sat next to her. “You know, it seems
that you always know the perfect places to go.
You’ve been here, what, a little over eight months and already you know
this town better then me.”
“Well if you would spend
less time on that little island and more time in the real world then maybe I
wouldn’t know this town better,” Erin shrugs and gives Nik a little smile. “You know, Port Charles is a big city maybe
one of these days you can surprise me and take me somewhere I’ve never been
before.”
“Okay next time I pick where
we go and you have no say about it.”
“Oh no, I’m giving a
Cassadine control over my life. Just
think what Luke would say,”
Liz’s apartment
Liz was lying on the couch
and just staring off into space. She
still couldn’t believe that Lucky had really asked her to marry him last
night. Maybe it had all been a dream;
maybe everything had been a dream. Liz
shook her head to clear those thoughts from her mind. No, it couldn’t have been a dream, then Lucky
wouldn’t be in her kitchen making her breakfast.
Liz was so lost in her
thoughts that she didn’t hear Lucky come out of the kitchen and walk up behind
her. “So, what has you so lost in
though?” Lucky asked wrapping his arms around
her.
Liz jumped slightly and
looked up at him, a soft smile quickly spread it’s self over her lips. “Oh, nothing, just last night. I was trying to convince myself that it
wasn’t a dream.”
“Well if it was a dream
would I do this?” Lucky leaned over and
kissed Liz all over her face and then softly on the lips.
“Well, I think I could use
some more convincing?” Liz teased.
“Oh really? Well then I guess then I’ll just have to find
someone to do that, it seems that I’m not doing a good enough job.” Lucky started to leave but Liz caught his
hand.
“No, I think you are doing a
fine job, I just need a little more.”
Liz pulled Lucky down to her and kissed him.
“That will have to weight
until after breakfast.” Lucky took Liz’s
hands and pulled her off of the couch, into the kitchen and sat her down in one
of the two chairs. Liz smiled at the
large breakfast Lucky had made for her.
Liz had given him a key as soon as she had moved in, and he had snuck in
wile she was still asleep. She had woken
up to the smell of hot coffee.
They ate and Liz told him
about some of the assignments that she had been given; she was now in charge of
the photography department of Flash magazine.
They were just starting a new column featuring exotic and flamboyant
homes.
They finished eating and
Lucky had cleaned the dishes, Liz had said that it was only fair for her to do
the dishes sense he cooked but Lucky wouldn’t hear of it. They went back into the living room and sat
back down on the couch. “I need to give
you something,” Lucky got up off the couch.
“Come on sleepy head, we need to get going.”
“Well are you going to tell
me where we are going?” Liz asked
walking into the bedroom and getting dressed.
“First off we need to go to
my house, then we have a lot of people to tell.” Lucky said giving her a lopsided grin.
Montauk (Jason and Robin’s honeymoon)
The two newlyweds were
sitting comfortably watching the sunrise on the terrace together. Jason wasn’t really looking at the sunrise;
he was more content just watching Robin.
Robin laughed when she noticed that he was looking at her. “What’s funny?”
“I was just wondering what
it was about me that you found so interesting that you never get tired of
staring at me.”
“I don’t know maybe it’s
because you are so beautiful, and I’m trying to figure what I did to deserve
someone like you. God knows that it
wasn’t my line of work that attracted you to me,” Jason said pulling her closer
to him. “I’m just lucky I guess.”
“You aren’t the one who is
lucky. I found the perfect man when you
found me on the bridge. I was the lucky
one, if it wasn’t for you I might not be here, you gave me something to look
forward to, something to dream about, you gave me a reason to go on.”
“I didn’t do anything.”
“You always say that. It’s never true.”
“I was just at the right
place at the right time,” Jason paused and looked out at the sunrise which by
now had begun to fade. “How about we go
for a walk into town?”
“Don’t you think it would
look a little odd to these people to see two people with guards following them
wherever they go?” Robin said reminding
him that they were in a little town and the people weren’t used to seeing mob
bosses in town.
“That’s the point. No one here knows us so I can have the guards
follow without being noticed. We’ve been
here twice and I don’t think we have ever been in town, besides, we are only
going to be here another…” Jason trailed off mysteriously.
“You never did tell me where
we were going to go after here. Are you
going to tell me now or do I have to force it out of you?” Robin said putting on a fake pouting face.
“Now none of that,” Jason
teased. “This is a surprise, and it’s
going to stay that way. Now do you want
to go into town or what?”
“Well sense you put it that
way…I think I have something better in mind.”
Robin began to kiss Jason teasingly and lead him back into the bedroom.
