CHAPTER
ELEVEN
That night Lisa helped Jonathan take
his stuff into his new room. It was late into the night when Jonathan was all
settled in.
“Good night Jonathan. If you need
any thing my room is just down the hall. Well, I’ll see you in the morning.”
Lisa said going to her room at the end of the hall.
“Yah, see you in the morning.”
Jonathan said sleepily. What was it
about Lisa that made him feel so comfortable? Jonathan thought as he closed the
heavy wood door and got ready for bed.
Back in her room Lisa was getting
ready for bed too. She sat on her bed brushing the mats out of her long brown
hair. In the hustle of the last few days she had completely forgotten to brush
it.
Suddenly the hair on the back of her
neck stood on end. All through the evening she had had the feeling that she was
being watched. But now she could felt someone’s or something’s hot berth on her
shoulders. Slowly very slowly she mover her hand under her pillow to where the
dagger Jonathan had given her sat. When she reached it she griped it tightly
and unsheathed it. She moved it to her lap. The thing was still breathing on
her shoulders. Then she felt something sharp on her arm. Lisa looked down
without moving her head. Three claw-like figures were slowly digging into her arm, strangely enough she felt one pain. Lisa griped the
dagger even harder and swung it in what would be the direction of the thing.
There was an inhuman scream that was ear piercing. She had stabbed the thing in
the shoulder. Lisa turned her head to look at it as she ran from the room.
There starring at her were the red glowing eyes that she saw at the dock. Lisa
ran down the hall till she was at Jonathan’s room. Her arm was bleeding
severely. The claws had cut her nearly to the bone. Lisa banged on the door
with what little strength she had left, the fright had left her weekend and
also did the loss of blood. “Jonathan! Jonathan!
Open the door!” She yelled.
Jonathan jerked the door open and
Lisa stumbled in. The left arm of her nightgown was dripping with blood. He
could see that Lisa was loosing consciousness and fast. Lisa griped the door
and made a feeble attempt to try to close it. Jonathan helped her. He thought
he felt something trying to force the door open. It took all his strength to
close it. Jonathan held it shut while Lisa locked it. He didn’t know what was
happening but he had an idea. But the Black Where had never attacked inside a
building before.
Lisa slumped to a chair. She had
lost a lot of blood in the last few minuets. She looked at her sleeve and saw
that it was drenched in blood. Jonathan came over to her with some strips of
cloth that he had torn off something. Jonathan dropped the strips of cloth in
the wash basin that was in the table next to her. Jonathan took hold of her
sleeve and gently tore it away form arm. He was shocked to see how deep the
wounds were. He cleaned the cuts and applied the strips of cloth. Lisa winced
each time Jonathan touched the cuts in her arm.
After Jonathan had bandaged her arm
he said. “We should get out of here. Who knows when it will come back.” Jonathan helped Lisa stand up and she put her
unharmed arm around his shoulder.
