| Why do Muslims pray so much? |
| Prayer is the distinctive quality of a believer. It helps to prevent sins by direct communication with God throughout the day. Prayer is the Muslim's source for guidance and remembrance of Allah. God tells us in Quran 23:1-2: "Successful indeed are the believers who humble themselves in their prayers." Prayer can be done anywhere, but most muslims will pray at home or in a mosque like the one shown below. It is also a requirement for men to pray at a mosque for Friday's noon prayer. Muslims pray 5 times per day in obedience to Allah. Quran 20:130 describes the times: "...and celebrate the praises of thy Lord ere the rising of the sun and ere the going down thereof, And glorify Him some hours of the night and at the two ends of the day, that thou mayst find acceptance." |
