Have a Question?
One of the most important resources we can have as Muslims is someone to answer our questions about Islam. This is especially true for Muslim women who have limited or no access to the Imam at the local mosque. The person we ask must be qualified, knowledgeable, and willing to answer our questions. The Muslim American Society (MAS) offers a weekly session to "Ask the Imam" any question about Islam. It features the respected mufti Muhammad Al-Hanooti. He was born in Palestine in 1937 and has been an Imam, teacher, and is a member of the North American Fiqh Council. He studied at Al-Azhar in Cairo. To ask a question, visit the MAS website.
The Rashidun- Rightly Guided Ones
Who were the Rashidun?
They were the first four caliphs after the Prophet Muhammed (PBUH).

1. Abu Bakr   (632-634)
His original name was Abdul Ka'aba -Slave of the Ka'aba, but the Prophet changed it to Abdul Allah- Slave of Allah. He later received the name Abu Bakr- Owner of the Camels, because of his great interest in raising camels.

2. 'Umar     (634-644)
'Umar greatly expanded the Islamic government of his time to include Egypt, Iraq, Palestine and Iran.

3. Uthman   (644-656)
Uthman also expanded the empire. The first half of his caliphate was  peaceful, but rebellions arose in the second half. He was eventually           assasinated by the rebels.

4. Ali      (656-661)
Ali implemented many reforms during his caliphate, particularly in the    levying and collecting of revenues. There were rebellions in his time as well, and was also murdered by rebels.
