He felt warm breath fan his face and he smiled as lips touched his own. A tongue slipped past his lips and teeth, delved deeply into his mouth with gentle insistence, not the usual assault on his senses. Instantly, Faramir drew awake and blinked in the darkness. He could see nothing through the shadow hovering over him, but he smelled a familiar scent and heard familiar breathing. He tried to force himself to relax.
"I did not mean to startle you," the voice said and the shadow retreated.
Faramir could make out Aragorn's outline. "You did not think kissing me while I slept would startle me?" Faramir struggled into a sitting position and eyed his king.
"I had hoped that you were so far gone in sweet dreams that you would mistake me for another." Aragorn removed his cloak and laid it at the foot of the bed and settled more comfortably on the edge, close to Faramir, but not so close that the captain would feel threatened.
Faramir chortled. "You do not kiss like Boromir. He took possession, claimed, demanded and left no room for argument. You, on the other hand, insist, but do not demand."
"Do you think you could become accustomed to my kisses?"
Faramir laid his hands in his lap and studied them for a moment. At last, he spoke. "Aye, I do. In many ways, you are like Boromir, you know. You are sure of yourself and strong. You are prepared to fight for what is yours and do not shy away from what must be done. In you, there is softness that my brother did not possess. He could be light hearted, but never soft."
"I think you possessed his share of softness. Nay, I do not mean that you are weak, but that you are gentle where he was hard. There is much to be said for compassion." He placed his hand on Faramir's leg and stroked it beneath the covers, wondering if Faramir would call a halt to his caress. "Your compassion attracts me as much as your strength, even as I admire your courage."
The warmth of Aragorn's palm penetrated through the blanket. There was comfort in the touch and Faramir suddenly longed for something more. He held out his hand to Aragorn. "I am not all softness," he said huskily.
Aragorn stopped caressing Faramir's leg. "Indeed, I can see that you are not. Is this what you truly want?"
Faramir read between the lines and knew that Aragorn was not asking what he wanted, but if he was ready to accept the consequences of his actions. The king did not ask for a night or a day, but a lifetime. Was he ready? He searched his heart. In some ways, yes, he was. In others, he remained uncertain. He did know that if he did not try he would never know. "I want this now."
"Need, you mean?" He took Faramir's hand and traced circles in the palm with his thumb.
"Yes, need." Faramir tugged so that Aragorn moved closer. "I need to feel your kisses and caresses."
Aragorn hovered over Faramir, his eyes searching the captain's face. "I am not Boromir. I cannot replace him. I can only be who and what I am and love you as I am."
Grasping the front of his tunic, Faramir pulled Aragorn closer. "So maybe tonight I will not dream of hm."
Aragorn placed light kisses on Faramir's face, touching his lips to cheeks, eyes, and finally lips. "When he comes to you in your dreams, what does he do?"
"He possesses me, completely." Faramir admitted.
Aragorn pulled aside the covers and exposed Faramir to his gaze. The captain was dressed in nothing save a light pair of leggings. He could see the outline of his member through the sheer fabric. He leaned down until his face nuzzled Faramir's chest. He rubbed his face through the soft hairs and kissed him along his sternum. Faramir shivered as he ran his hands through Aragorn's gleaming hair. The king raised himself up and slowly unlaced his tunic, exposing his chest inch by inch. "Then tonight you shall possess me."
