"Farewell"
by Sulamith Wulfing
The Lady, she strolls the parapets daily,
her gaze searches far and wide.
Her soul is bereft, she pines and weeps
for the love she so harshly denied.
What she held in her heart, she told him nought
for fear t'would not be returned.
Two souls were torn asunder,
for him, she had so fearfully spurned.

Lifting her gently, he placed her on his steed,
as he mounted, her neck he did softly kiss.
Wrapping his arms around her, he held her close,
as they rode off into the shrouded mist.
Faeries danced merrily, for the Knight and his Lady,
for their love had now been sworn.
They had been working their magic all along,
for the true love they knew would be born.

QUEST FOR LOVE

The Knight, he rides the barren roads
and seeks his lady love.
A fair and beautiful maiden,
he now hopes to be worthy of.
His heart belongs to her so sweet
for whom he would give his life.
And now he seeks to find her again
and beg her to be his wife.
For last they met, these timeless souls,
by the standing stone in the faeries meadow.
She broke his heart and he rode away,
all hope lost as he neared the forest shadow.
He realised that a warrior he was,
his heart was in the fight.
Regaining his pride, he held his head high
as he disappeared from her sight.
But for this Lady and her gentle smile,
he had broken the vow he made,
to be the fiercest knight in all the land
and protect the realm with his blade.
His strength was great in warfare,
a brave and fearsome knight he was.
And now his heart would only be in battle
instead of dealing with love's cause.

For he was born and bred a warrior,
he knew no other life.
And so he chose to remain as such,
and give up the love of a wife.
But his heart could not forget her,
it bled him dry each and every day.
For the memory of her soft kisses,
he crumbled and decided to find a way.
She was so tired, her heart was breaking,
she would never see her love again.
And so, she wept, heart wrenching cries,
that echoed across the plain.
The Knight, out of instinct and memory
came riding to this magical place.
The sound of haunting sobs guided his way
and there he saw his lady love's face.

A gentle touch on her shoulder,
made her raise her tear filled eyes.
He whispered gently his love for her
and promised no more goodbyes.
He pulled her to his chest
as calloused hand softly wiped away her tears.
She smile thru wet lashes and gave her vow
to love only him throughout all their years.
And while he planned, the Lady left her safe Keep,
through the dark forest, she rode.
With the hope that she would find her love
so again seeds of love could be sowed.
Wandering forlornly, upon the faerie's meadow she came,
with tear stains wet on her face.
She cried out her love's name in abject misery,
and buried her head in her hands, a lost waif.
And so if you should come across,
a faerie's meadow with standing stones.
Feel the love that flows through this place
and you will know you are not alone.
As it did for the Knight and his Lady,
the gift of true love may come to you too.
Hold onto that dream throughout your life
for the faeries magic will make it come true.
