This story involves the Aldani dragons Tallycorith, Lucious and Strethan as well as the Vehrakt dragons Archarus and Akayla.

This takes place somewhere along the road to the west of the Aldani city of Menari. It is from Tallycorith's viewpoint.

Lucious pauses alongside the road, adding up some figures in his head and thinking of something, not paying attention at all.

Tallycorith walks out from Menari, looking very agitated... but only somewhat watching where he's going.

Akayla walks down the road also, her brow furrowed and her eyes not quite watching the road. Her mind races, trying to sort out the event of the past few days.

Tallycorith 's fists are balled, and his teeth clenched...

Lucious stays in his spot, still unnoticing of the others, counting on his fingers now with a frustrated look on his face. Shaking his head, he starts over...

Archarus is leaning against one of the markers near the road, warning people away from Vehrakt territory, only absently noting the other three, busy with the same problem that his newly-efficient mind has been worrying at for the past few days.

Akayla blindly stumbles down the road, so caught up in her thoughts that she fails to recognize her adopted brother by the marker. She trails past him, her neck bowed low.

Tallycorith watches himself just enough to keep from walking into Vehrakt territory, for he knows better... Other than that, he walks blindly ahead...

Lucious looks up suddenly, realizing he might be getting a bit /too/ close to Vehrakt territory. It's then that he spots the others, noting the other Aldani which he knows, also the two Vehrakt. He takes a few steps towards Tally, "Tally, you are far from your domain are you not?" he asks.

Tallycorith Looks up. "Ah... Hello MiLord. Yes, I guess, I am, I went off to take a walk, and I wasn't watching where I went...

Akayla suddenly seems to snap back into reality as she realizes she is in Aldani territory. She stops, shaking her head as if to rid herself of some inner ghost. Then, she spies Lucious on the side of the road and begins walking over to him. The glazed look on her eyes clears slightly, and her stance becomes a bit less down-trodden, though definately not her normal jaunty gait.

Archarus idly draws one of the daggers at his thigh, examining the blade and mechanically beginning to sharp dull areas, while tracking Akayla with his murky red eyes, if without recognition, out of simple curiousity as to what a Priestess is doing in Aldani territory.

Lucious glances to Akayla, nodding somewhat, being polite as he always is. Looking back to Tally with a soft consideration, "Something troubling you you'd like to get off your back?"

Tallycorith says, "Uh.. well, a.... good friend of mine has gone missing.."

Lucious frowns, "Oh... that is a disturbance.. He... uh, or she, must have been a good friend to worry you all the way out here."

Akayla continues to drift towards the two Aldani, though she takes her time, as if this is something she's not quite sure about.

Tallycorith nods. "Aye, she is a good friend to me, we... did, however, find her companions dead body..."

Archarus ponders a moment, then reaches a decision about the Priestess abruptly, the corner of his mind working on that having finally clicked into place. Resheathing the now razor edged dagger, he takes up a smooth, flowing stride that carries him on a straight intercept course for the younger Vehrakt.

Lucious considers the approaching Vehrakt, but focused on Tally. He frowns, rigid lines etching his slight aged face, "Well... at least you have not found hers yet.. That is a good sign, though it is a sad day when another has died over this countlessly ongoing feud, whether it be the bugs or another..."

Tallycorith nods. "Yes, though if I find who did it........"

Lucious frowns, "You can not justify a wrong by another wrong. Though punishment is needed, more bloodshed is not needed unattained."

Tallycorith says, "Perhaps.. But she was... close to me..."

Akayla wavers close to the two Aldani, listening to snatches of their conversation. A watchful eye might see her gulp, visibly unnerved. This is quite strange behavior for a Vehrakt priestess.

Tallycorith says, "I suppose thou art right....."

Archarus pauses only a mere yard away from the young Priestess, a faint rustle of scales announcing his arrival. He merely studies her a moment, noting the gulp, and understanding dawns. What amusing irony. However, there's very little room for amusement in a fanatic, so he returns his attention to her, noting in quiet, chill tone, "I would advise against further approach, Priestess. One of the filth seems... touchy."

Lucious ffs, nodding, "I see. I wish somehow that all the violence could be ended..." he picks up some of the other's words, frowning faintly but otherwise having no other reaction.

Akayla is so preoccupied that even her trained ears don't respond to the sound of scales behind her. She literally jumps as a voice speaks from behind her. Whirling around, she goes into fight-or-flight position a moment before realizing who the speaker is. "Ar...Warrior, you startled me." She takes a few breaths in an attempt to calm herself. "Yes..." she answers, looking over to the Aldani.

Tallycorith nods... his keen ears picking up on everything the two vehrakt have said, as he was alerted to their presence by Lucious.

Lucious hrmms faintly, glancing at the one she called warrior for a brief second, looking back towards Tally again.

Tallycorith takes a small step back, his legs in a neutral position, but more easily accessible to a defensive position if the need arise.

Lucious has no weapons himself, having never engaged in a single fight, secured in the heart of Menari. Looking towards Tally, he asks, "Are you going to be okay?"

Tallycorith says, "Yeah... I should be fine, thank you."

Archarus notes the defensive reaction of one of the two, and bares his teeth a bit in a 'smile', though there's little humor in the expression, directing slit pupils to the other Aldani, then to Akayla once more, "You seem unduly drawn to their kind. A truce we may have... but treaties can end. It would not do to become attached to any of them."

Tallycorith ignores the 'smile' and keeps his face towards Lucious.. "What doth thee do again, Milord?"

Lucious nods, "That's good. If you want to talk about anything I'll listen." he hrmms, "I am a tailor. Are you still interested in some clothing?"

Tallycorith says, "Ah... Yes, I might be..."

Akayla winces slightly with Archarus's words, though the reason is not apparent. "Warrior, I'll be alright. I just have..." she tries to look devious, but it comes out as a muffled sort of forced smirk. "Business...with them. I can handle myself."

Lucious nods, "Anytime just stop by my shop, it is on North Terra Lane, I will help you for free, seeing as you are a friend."

Tallycorith nods. "I thank thee..."

Archarus nods his head once in acknowledgement, "Of course, Priestess. I meant no disrespect with an advice, it was simply that. Advice. You are free to act as your will guides you, for it is of course Viktiss's will as well."

Lucious nods, "You are more than welcome sir Tallycorith, I am much obliged to help you out. As all of my friends seeing as how my business is going rather well lately."

Akayla nods to Archarus, even venturing a brief smile. "I thank you for your kindness Warrior, as always. Go back to your post, I'll be alright." Her smile, however, wavers as she catches the name 'Tallycorith' in the two Aldani's conversation.

Archarus bows his head a bit, and turns on his heel, taking a few easy loping strides and then leaping upwards, wings flaring outward at that moment to catch air and send him shooting upwards, to go back to whatever it was he was going to do before this distracted him.

Akayla looks after Archarus a moment, wanting to have her big bro's support in this, but knowing she can't. So, she heaves a sigh and wanders closer to the Aldani. "Pardon me, but did one of you mention the name Tallycorith?" she says, unusually polite and quiet.

Archarus heads north into the Bayoon forest and Vehrakt territory.
Archarus has left.

Tallycorith glances at the Vehrakt, and tries to maintain his cheerful tone.. "Aye, My name is Tallycorith"

Lucious glances after Archarus, nodding a goodbye as politeness deems. He glances back to Tally again, nodding, "Anyhow, I guess I was distracted as I came out here myself... I was adding up the totals for today and the other days and it seems too high a profit. I suppose I'm just doing pretty good." He hrmms, glancing over towards Akayla, "Aye, I did.." he nods towards Tallycorith...letting him continue..

Tallycorith says, "Might I ask of thy name, Milady?"

Akayla raises an eyeridge at Tallycorith, and nods her neck to both of them, though she speaks to Tally "'Tis a honor to meet you, friend of a friend. You may call me Akayla."

Lucious nods, listening, not volunteering his name as it has not been asked. You say, "Did I hear the other Dragon call thee Princess?"

Lucious does however, after a moment add quietly, "A good greeting to you miss Akayla..", watching silently otherwise.

Akayla 's eyes flicker back and forth from Tally to Lucious. She seems quite nervous, in fact, if dragons could sweat she would be sweating buckets at the moment. "No, not Princess, friend on a friend, you heard wrong." She thinks for a moment, then continues. "Do either of you know of the dragoness, Razi?"

Lucious hrmms, glancing to Tally silently, shaking his head to himself.

Tallycorith nods at the princess part.... and is taken aback at the mention of Razi's name... "I... I do, Milady.. she..... is a... friend of mine.... why doth thee ask?"

Lucious notes Tallycorith's reaction, suddenly frowning at a conception in his mouth.

Tallycorith stays calm, nonhostile even... But a bit worried about his friend...

Akayla nods her head slowly. Yes, this is the one she is looking for. For the thousanth time this day, she sighs deeply. "She has sent me to seek you out." This is quite out of the ordinary, an Aldani ordering around a Vehrakt Priestess. However, Akayla seems to be still holding back something.

Lucious hrmms, watching Akayla seriously now.

Tallycorith says, "She... she sent you to find me???"

Tallycorith looks confused...

Akayla hesitates a moment, nervously scratching the itchy spot on the back of her neck. "Yeah..." she looks around, seeing the Vehrakt near the gate. Her tone is no more than a whisper now. "She is imprisoned within the Vehrakt fortress Pyro. She lives, though she has been wounded...tortured." No wonder Kayla was a bit hesitant about speaking, the information she is giving you could get her killed.

Lucious frowns, suddenly speaking, "This isn't supposed to be now is it..." he murmurs just as low.

Tallycorith 's jaw drops. "She's..... She's... ... Is she okay? Who hurt her?"

Tallycorith says, "And why are you telling me this?"

Lucious nods faintly to Tallycorith, suddenly senses perked.

Akayla nods to Lucious, glad he too keeps his tone low. Then, she looks rather disturbed as Tally speaks, and motions for quiet. "Hey, keep it down, hmm? I...I can't say who hurt her, but she's alive." Akayla looks down at the ground a moment, studying the pebbled rather intently. "She...She is a friend..." Akayla trails off, unused to expressing her feelings.

Tallycorith nods...and brings his voice lower...

Lucious murmurs, "If Tally goes, how would he go unnoticed, without himself being captured?" he asks, putting forth his worries...

Tallycorith blinks...

Akayla look to Lucious and suddenly smiles, one of the first real ones in days. "Did I mention I was the priestess of Fort Pyro? Well," she amends, "Not yet, but soon I will be."

Tallycorith shakes his head.. "No, you did not..."

Lucious hmms, "Soon? I see... That would help things."

Tallycorith says, "Did Madame Razi have a message for me, or anything?"

Akayla looks around, spotting a curious Vehrakt heading our way. "Look, I hate to cut this short, but Tallycorith, Razi told me that she's sorry for all she's done, and that she loves you. That was her message. I have to run, but I will be back." With that, she nods to the two of you and quickly takes to the wing.

Lucious glances at Akayla, then back to Tally as he bites his bottom lip.

Tallycorith 's jaw falls open again...and a tear shoots out of his eye, and down his cheek... He falls to the ground...on his knees..... "She... she's.... dead?"

Lucious glances to Tallycorith, "She didn't say that. Come friend.. You need a place to rest." He frowns.

Tallycorith says, "L... Lucious... I.. I never told her...."

Lucious frowns, taking Tally's arm, "Come on.. She's not dead, I'm sure of it.. Akayla said Razi wanted to meet you, you'll see her again.." He errs, "Follow me, you need a rest.."

Tallycorith is standing with Lucious, actually, kneeling is better.. He's on his knees, weeping...

Lucious looks down at his friend, "Tal, she's not dead, listen to me... She's still alive, you are going to meet her.. You'll tell her."

Tallycorith breathes in... He's lost in his own world at the moment...

Lucious doesn't know what to say, or do, but finally shakes him by the shoulders faintly, "Come to it.. she's alright.."

Tallycorith looks up to Lucious.. "How do you know... She said she said goodbye.. and I sat back and did nothing..... Nothing!"

Lucious frowns, "Because, Lady Akayla said Razi wanted to meet you..."

Tallycorith nods...and stands again...trying to regain some composure.... "I.. suppose you're right.."

Lucious says, "Are you going to be alright?"

Tallycorith says, "I... do not know..."

Lucious says, "You want something to drink, eat, something to calm your senses?"

Tallycorith says, "Food? uhh.. perhaps a drink..."

Lucious hmms, "I have some at my place.. come on, we'll get you settled before the night is over.."

Tallycorith nods.

Tallycorith says, "Lead the way, good sir..."

Lucious has left.

Tallycorith nods to Lucious. "I thank thee for thy hospitality..."

Lucious nods, pausing at the upper door and fumbling with more keys. He ers after a moment, scratching his head, "Well...which one was it again.. I swear I should label these things..."

Tallycorith chuckles slightly...

Lucious starts trying them one by one, after a moment finding the right one, opening the door and entering.

The office is neatly organized, a large desk in the corner to the left of the door and a oil lamp sitting on it with various burn marks on it from late night use. Behind the desk a wooden chair sets, plain and simply designed with various marks on it showing it's age. The floor is carpeted, underneath during buisness hours a faint murmur of voices is apparent, though at night as silent as the wind. The door leading back down the stairs has a secure lock on it, keeping the rooms as a private place for a retreat. The bedroom is equally as neat, a small singles bed in the right corner, to the side of it a chest of drawers. A closet is off to the side, a well sized bathroom off to the left for his use.

Lucious nods, "First person beside me who's been up here.. Don't have that many friends though.."

Tallycorith nods... "I feel honored then..."

Both dragons sit and talk as they drink for a while. Eventually Tallycorith comments about needing some fresh air.

Lucious nods.

Strethan arrives along Aeris Lane to the south.
Strethan has arrived.

Tallycorith walks alongside Lucious. "What am I to do? They refuse to do anything..."

Tallycorith is heading home towards Sithern. Lucious walks beside him, keeping him company...

Lucious hmms, "Sometimes you have to do what you think is right my young friend..."

Strethan flies low over the street, in the direction of the pyramid at the Queen's behest.

Tallycorith spies Strethan flying above them, "Hey, That's Strethan.. " Waves to Strethan...

Lucious glances up with a hrmm, he nods, "Yes... though I am not sure if I have met him yet.."

Strethan doesn't seem to notice, his muzzle pointing in the direction of the pyramid's crown as he cuts the air like, well, a dragon.

Tallycorith Shouts up at Strethan, just as he starts to fly over them.. "Lord Strethan, Hey! Can I talk to thee for a moment?"

Strethan rrrrms? and looks down, neck curving as he notices over Tallycorith. He dips his wings in assent and cuts a smooth diving roll, reversing his flight and gliding down to an easy landing before the pair of dragons. "Young Tallycorith! I did not expect to find you here, how are you? I do not believe I've met your friend..."

Tallycorith says, "This is Lucious... he's the local Tailor for Menari, apparently doing very well for himself, if I do say so, I, however, am in a lesser condition, I am afraid.. Lucious is being a good friend, and keeping me company..."

Strethan sketches a bow to Lucious. "So YOU are the famed Lucious. I have heard you name mentioned at court, your designs are well-regarded."

Lucious smiles, bowing a bit, "Thank you Milord."

Lucious hmms, "And you are Strethan, the Captain of Menari's Guard, it is an honor to meet you Sir."

Strethan nods to Lucious graciously, "The pleasure is mine, I'm sure," then looks to Tally. "A lesser condition? Something have your wings drooping, young friend?"

Lucious looks to Tallycorith, watching lightly.

Tallycorith nods. "Yes, Milord.. Hast thou heard of the missing Aldani?"

Lucious nods faintly, glancing at Strethan, "A sad event.." he says silently.

Strethan says, "Yes, the murdered guard and the missing Razi... You can imagine I am quite concerned."

Tallycorith says, "Well, I am the one who found the body of the guard.. and I am also very... fond of her..."

Lucious hrmms, standing silently in his place across from Tally.

Strethan frowns. "I see... I was not aware you had... feelings for her. How would you like to assist us in the search? Your personal stake could be valuable."

Tallycorith says, "I would be honored to, Milord.. Also.. I have some new developments on her whereabouts..."

Lucious watches the two, seeing himself as just a tailor as usual.

Strethan's gaze sharpens. "Oh? You know something? Do tell."

Tallycorith says, "Yes, I was walking, thinking...when I bumped into Lucious here, outside of Western Menari... We were talking, when A young Vehrakt approached us.. She said she was sent by Razi, and told me she was being held at Fort Pyro. and........."

Tallycorith looks saddened.

Strethan starts to speak, but pauses as you prepare to continue.

Tallycorith says, "She told her to tell me good bye, and that she loved me..."

Tallycorith says, "And I did nothing through all of this.. I sat back the entire time..."

Strethan says, "Did this Vehrakt say WHY she told you...?"

Tallycorith shakes his head.. "She said something about being a friend of Razi... and that she had told her to do it..."

Strethan shakes his head slightly, expression grim. "I don't like the way she volunteered the information... something is not right here."

Tallycorith says, "She said something about soon being a priestess of Fort Pyro... and the one they call Archarus had approached her as she first started walking towards us..., I believe that is who he is...."

Lucious hmms, nodding faintly.

Strethan says, "And what did this Archarus do?"

Lucious listens, letting Tally speak.

Tallycorith says, "I can quote it, I do believe..."

Strethan nods to Tally, listening intently.

Tallycorith says, "He said: You seem unduly drawn to their kind. A truce we may have... but treaties can end. It would not do to become attached to any of them.'"

Lucious nods.

Strethan's expression only grows darker. "An ill wind blows from the west... Whatever Akayla's motives, it is clear that the Vehrakt have her. They COULD be attempting to trick us into making a move, drawing us into a rescue attempt for a dragon already gone... or, it would be just like them to keep her alive for torment, to dangle her survival before us."

Tallycorith says, "Either way, I cannot sit back any longer, I have done nothing this entire time. If she's alive, I must take that chance, if She -is- dead, then I must avenge her death.... I can not sit idly by as this crime goes by unpunished..."

Lucious sighs to himself, frowning deeply as he watches.

Tallycorith says, "I have done nothing at the request of others.. Must I be tormented with the fact that I can do nothing? And that no one else will do anything?"

Strethan chides Tallycorith, "Before you can do -anything- you must know what you can do. If you rush headlong to Fort Pyro you -will- wind up dead or worse. That will avail Razi nothing, nothing at all. We must try to determine if she IS at Fort Pyro, and if she is alive. you have my word, if this is the case you will be part of rescue force sent to bring her out and punish the Vehrakt for their treachery."

Tallycorith says, "And who is to head this force?"

Strethan says, "That will be determined..."

Strethan gives Tallycorith a long, appraising look.

Tallycorith says, "I ask that I be considered... If possible, I know I am knew here...and thou hast not seen me fight, but believe me, I know my sword play better than most...."

Tallycorith says, "I ask thee as my teacher, and my friend..."

Strethan sizes Tally up for one long moment furhter, then reaches out to clasp his shoulder. "I promise you, as my student and friend, that as our plans are made you will figure prominently in them. If nothing else, this will be a test of my faith in you... as my choosing you proves that faith."

Tallycorith nods.. "I thank thee, Milord.... I will -not-dissappoint you..."

Lucious watches, frowning in disapproval.. Though, he stays quiet, just a tailor.

Strethan shakes his head slightly, smiling wearily at his pupil. "I do not doubt it, Tallycorith. I do not doubt it." He looks up, and down the street towards the Pyramid. "Ah, if you will excuse me... I must be about my duties. Please, visit me at the palace at dusk and we will talk more."

Tallycorith nods.. "Thank you.. I will see you later, sir...

Tallycorith says, "Lucious.. could I possible ask a favor of thee?"

Lucious nods, "Anything my friend."

Tallycorith says, "I would like to ask thee if thee could make me a new outfit, A suit of lightweight armor..."

Lucious hmms, "Yes...it would be attainable.. What material would you want me to make it of?"

Strethan lingers a bit longer, listening to the talk of armor with interest.

Tallycorith says, "What doth thee have? The toughest stuff you have, and thick to... If thee has such a thing.. And put metal plating on it...."

Strethan ahems softly, "I thought you said lightweight, Tallycorith."

Lucious hmms, "I have an animal hide...very thick and imported from some other sphere... but it would be a bit heavy.."

Tallycorith says, "I can show you some designs I remember.. but I know not if you have the materials... If they exist here.."

Lucious hmms, "If you have designs, I can make it Sir Tallycorith.."

Tallycorith nods to Lucious.. "Yes, that might work, if placed in the right places, over some canvas.... Metal plating also... here and there.... "

Tallycorith says, "Lightweight for me, Lord Strethan.."

Lucious nods, "I have a good amount of supplies and designs...would you be expecting it in the morrow?"

Lucious begins thinking in his head, tailor's mind quick at work...

Strethan nods silently to Tally, considering these designs... IF they prove workable, they could be advantageous.

Tallycorith says, "I have no rush for it, whenever you have the time for it.. Soon though... If the doth not mind working tonight, I will help thee as much as I can, though I am no tailor.."

Lucious says, "Would you want full covering, or only over various portions of the body?" He nods, "I have time, I'll let my workers take care of my shop for a while.. they are skilled enough.."

Tallycorith nods to his Teacher... "That is why I ask...it may slow down my time somewhat, but a good armor will help me a lot more than hurt me, if well designed.."

Strethan nods slowly, "We will assess the finished product."

Tallycorith says, "Perhaps a material with hard scales? Something tougher than my own Draconic scales?"

Lucious hmms, tapping the side of his head thoughtfully, "I could...and.." he murmurs to himself, giberish and gobldeygook for a moment, then looks up, "Just the thing.. a rough set of plates from some sort of reptile from the jungles of the panthers.."

Lucious erms, "Though you really must see the pieces in order to judge on them.

Tallycorith smiles, then nods.. "Alright, we can put that on some of the thick hide you have, and metal in the more vital spots, using the scales as much as possible, to keep the weight down. Just scales on the arms, and legs, Thicker stuff on the main torso...

Tallycorith says, "Scales sewed onto the hide."

Lucious nods, thinking to himself while listening..

Tallycorith nods.

Lucious hmms, "When you are ready, I'd like to get back to my shop and get started.."

Tallycorith nods.. "I suppose we should allow Lord Strethan to go to his errands, as he is a busy Person.."

Lucious glances to Strethan, bowing slightly, "Good night Milord.."

Strethan bows deeply. "I look forward to see the final work. Good day to you, gentlemen, you know where to find me should you need to."

Lucious nods.

Strethan turns, gathers himself, and springs into the air, wings snapping open to bite the air and lift him siftly into flight.
