Back in 1994, when Maria and Edmund tied the knot, it was obviously connected to the Callahan's real-life romance because in the story Maria was undoubtedly Edmund?s second choice. Brooke and Edmund endured incredible pain and heartache in their saga to be together, but their fans were robbed of the ultimate soap opera climax -- a magnificent wedding celebrating their extraordinary love.

Fast-forward eight long years later. Brooke and Edmund finally exchanged wedding vows and rings, and their fans were still ripped off because the day wasn't a celebration of their union, but a vortex to disaster. No reception, no first dance, no wedding cake -- only Brooke confessing to the existence of the canonized Maria Santos Grey and thereby contradicting all of Edmund's beliefs in her.

Brooke's shame and self-punishment have been heart wrenching. Her road to redemption is slowly being paved as she comes to terms with what she did. Brooke's guilt runs so deep she's even going to try and repair Edmund and Maria's relationship to make up for her wrongdoing. In doing so, hopefully, even the Brooke supporters will rally around an Edmund and Maria reunion --
NOT, NO WAY, NO HOW, NOT EVER!!!

Because in the process of being noble, Brooke is restoring the beliefs, which Edmund spoke about in his vows "...you inspire me with your devotion to friends and family, your compassion, your integrity. One of the things I love about Brooke is her modesty. This woman loves so fearlessly that she will risk everything, including her own happiness, just for the sake of those who are lucky enough to be loved by her."

What we realize is, because of Brooke's pushing and Edmund's persistence, that Maureen will finally relent and give Edmund a sincere opportunity to rekindle their love. What we will have to suffer through is Edmund romancing Maureen and trying to reestablish the perfect life they had together as Edmund and Maria. What we want during this time is Maureen to witness the closeness and natural ease with which Edmund and Brooke relate. What we expect is to see Maureen feeling more and more like she's suffocating in the Norman Rockwell life Edmund has her living. What we hope for is Maureen realizing Edmund is in love with the memory of Maria, a memory so angelic and without human failings that her new persona could never compete, and the only other woman to fill Edmund's heart with joy and laughter is Brooke English. What we trust is Maureen coming to the conclusion that her purpose for coming back to Pine Valley is to release Edmund of his memory of her so he can be free to begin his new life with Brooke. It is the only scenario Brooke and Edmund fans want and deserve, and no amount of sacrificing and compromising Brooke's character for the sake of Maria's return will sway our minds.
