The New Guy In Town

Setting:  Tempo Offices

Edmund:  What are you doing?

Brooke:  Going through resumes.  We need a new investigative reporter since we fired Simone.

Edmund:  I'll let you handle it.  I've got my hands full at home.

Brooke:  Just don't tell me about it okay.  We agreed to keep this strictly professional.  I wish you the best in dealing with Maria's amnesia, and with helping Sam and Maddie adjust, but it still hurts me.  (Brooke drags her hand across her eyes)

Edmund:  Brooke, I wish..

Brooke:  That there were two of you?  (Laughs) Yeah, me too.  Out of here Mr. Grey, I have work to do.

Scene Two: The Interview

Brooke:  Mr. Wilson, your credentials are very impressive.  After running a newspaper, why would you go back to being a reporter?

Jason:  Call me Jay.  I really don't want to discuss my past.  I'lll tell you anything you want to know about prior jobs, but let's say my reasons are demons.  I'm running away from my personal life.

Brooke:  I can definitely understand that.  I'm running from some personal demons of my own.  Okay, you're hired.  I'll introduce you to my partner, Edmund Grey, tomorrow.

Jason:  We've met.  We started out at the same newspaper a lot of years ago.

Brooke:  Well then, it'll be like old home week around here.

Jason:  Yes, I'm looking forward to the look on Eddy's face when he sees me.

Scene Three:  Tempo Offices

Brooke:  Edmund, do you have a minute?  I have a surprise for you.  Our new reporter is a friend of yours.  (Jason turns around just as Edmund walks in.  It's evident from the look on his face that he is far from pleased.)

Edmund:  What are YOU doing here?

Jason:  I'm your new investigative reporter.

Edmund:  Hell no you're not.  You're my worst nightmare.

Jason:  Look, we're older and wiser now.  The rivalry between us should be long past.  You're married so we won't be sparring over available females anymore.  This should work out fine.

The phone rings

Brooke:  I'm needed in layout.  I'm really sorry to miss the rest of this reunion, but I'm sure you two will work it out.

After Brooke leaves

Jason:  Are there any rules against dating the boss?  I go for cute little redheads.

Edmund:  Brooke has been through a rough time, and I'll only tell you this once, leave her the hell alone.  Edmund slams the door

Jason:  Not on your life Eddy.  Not only is she cute, she's under your skin.
