Setting: A Phone Conversation
Aunt Phoebe: Benjamin, you have my deepest sympathy. Cancer is such a terrible thing.
I can tell from the pain in your voice just how deeply Estelle's death has affected you.
Benny: Yeah Duchess, I haven't really known what to do with myself lately.
Aunt Phoebe: I have a grand idea! Come for a visit dear boy. Brooke's had a terrible time of it.
I think you two would be the best medicine in the world for each other.
Setting: Tempo Offices:
Brooke is in her office with her head in her hands. The ordeal with Edmund and Maria has taken its toll.
She feels exhausted and like she will never have any fun in her life again. Enter Benny Sago wearing
black leather and carrying a motorcycle helmet. As he enters the hall, Edmund stops him.
Edmund: Can I help you?
Benny: Yeah, I'm looking for Brookie.
Edmund: Ms. English's office is over there. Maybe I can help you.
Benny: Nah, Brooke's my gal. (Benny walks into Brooke's office still carrying the box as Edmund looks on)
Brooke: Benny!!! Oh my god, Benny Sago! (Brooke runs over to hug him)
Benny: Brookie, you're still beautiful. Looking at you makes me feel 25 again.
Brooke: You charmer! What's in the box?
Benny: Open it. (Brooke tears into the package.)
Brooke: It's my motorcycle helmet! I can't believe you still have it. (Benny picks Brooke up and walks out into the hallway almost bumping into Edmund)
Benny: Hey buddy, get the door and the lights.
Edmund: Brooke, where are you going?
Brooke: Back about 20 years. (Brooke and Benny take off on the motorcycle. Later they stop at a biker bar).
Brooke: I can't remember the last time I was in a place like this.
Benny: Brookie have you forgotten how to cut loose?
Brooke: What do you think? (As they finish their beers, a guy who has had too much to drink approaches).
Biker Guy: Hey red wanna dance?
Brooke: Who me? No, no thank you.
Biker Guy: (grabs Brooke's arm and pulls her to her feet)
Benny: The lady said no.
Biker Guy: Stay out of this.
Benny: I don't think so. (The biker takes a swing at Benny and Benny decks him).
Next Morning: (The headline of the Pine Valley paper has a picture of Brooke/Benny and the biker.
The headline says: "Benny's Back."
Edmund walks into Brooke's office carrying the paper. He lays it on Brooke's desk.
Edmund: Care to explain this?
Brooke: No.
Edmund: No? We are business partners; we have a reputation to uphold.
Brooke: You have been involved in a couple of barroom brawls in your time. It was really no big deal.
Edmund: Who is this Benny Sago?
Brooke: He was Aunt Phoebe's chauffeur when I was a teenager, among other things.
Edmund: What's that supposed to mean?
Brooke: He was a good friend to me when I was a wild child. (Benny walks in)
Benny: Now my feelings are hurt. You don't call the guy you gave your virginity to just a chauffeur and
a friend.
Brooke: Benny, that's too much information.
Benny: I never did know when to keep my mouth shut.
