This scene takes place after Brooke has a phone conversation with Laura. Brooke leaves Tad to search for Maureen Gorman and goes home immediatly after Laura tells her she accidently spilled the beans to Edmund about not going to see her and her photo exhibits.
Brooke walks into her house to find Edmund, Jamie and Sam playing keep-away from Maddie with a football. They are making alot of noise laughing and teasing Maddie. Brooke puts her suitcase and purse down and stands there unnoticed.
Brooke finally clears her throat loud enough to get Maddies attention. All the kids run to Brooke and smother her with hugs and kisses. Edmund stands still and looks on with no emotion on his face. Edmund then tells the kids to go upstairs and get ready for bed. All the kids give Edmund a hug good night, including Jamie, and run upstairs. Edmund and Brooke walk towards each other, but Edmund stops at arms distance from Brooke.
Edmund: How was your trip?
Brooke: I missed you and the kids alot....What did you do while I was gone? (Edmund does a long blink, frustrated that Brooke side stepped his question)
Edmund: Well, Jamie taught Sam how to do a belly flopp in Pheobes pool. (They both go to sit on the couch, Brooke is facing Edmund but he faces forward not able to look back at Brooke) We went and watched Jamies baseball game. He made a double play and got voted MVP of the game. Joe, Ruth and Jake were there to see it.(Edmund turns and looks into Brookes eyes) But... I guess Tad had to leave town on some emergency. It's too bad that you both missed Jamies best game of the season. Im sure it means alot to him when you both can be there. (Brooke turns away quickly and looks towards the ground. Edmunds voice turns a little cold) So tell me about Laura's exhibit?
Brooke: I didnt go to see Laura or her exhibit.....
(Edmund turns and faces away from Brooke again and cuts her sentence off) Edmund: I know, she called to talk about Enzo's transplant, but accidently let it slip she didnt have an exhibit this weekend, and she wasnt expecting you for a visit either. (Edmund still has a small hope that Mateo's hunch was right about Brooke planning a romantic honeymoon suprise. So he leans in near her neck with a soft sexy whisper and asks) What were you off doing?
(Brooke stands up and moves away from the couch.) Brooke: Edmund I am so sorry that I lied to you about going to see Laura.(Brooke cant get words out, she can see the hurt in Edmunds eyes) I am really...I lied. I just...I, I thought...well everything happened so fast...I made a mistake. (Brooke stays silent but is looking at Edmund.
Edmund slowly puts his face in his hands for a moment, then looks up at Brooke with tears in his eyes. He is scared Brooke slept with Tad.)
Edmund: (A crack in a quiet voice and a quivering bottom lip he asks) Brooke...what...what did you do?
Brooke: (Brooke pulls herself together with a deep breath) I lied, I lied because I needed to go find out if Maureen Gorman is Maria or not. Tad just tagged along with me, he just followed to help me find her.
(Edmund looks almost relieved, until what Brooke just said sinks in, he stands up quickly and is in disbelief)
Edmund: YOU DID WHAT?! Brooke......why on earth would you think that this Maureen Gorman person is Maria?
Brooke: Some things have come up lately. They have alot of simularities between them. (Edmund is suprised to hear what she is saying and is shaking his head) Maureen Gorman, Maria Grey. Maureen is a match for Enzo just like Maria.
Edmund: A match? A match like Maria? Honey, so is Timothy Dillion! And he is so far from being Maria.
Brooke: There is also this.(Brooke walks over to her purse and pulls out the drawing of the castle, she hands it over to Edmund who looks at it for a moment, he folds it up and places it on the coffee table.) It was drawn by Maureen Gorman.
Edmund: Brooke, pictures of Wildwind have been in magazines and books a one hundred times. She could have drawn it from any photo.
Brooke: And I called the hospital, (Edmund walks over to Brooke and reached to hold her hands, he looks at her with simpathy)and I asked them to discribe Maureen to me...a thin pretty brunette, olive skin with big brown eyes. That sounds like Maria to me Edmund.
Edmund: (Looking into Brookes eyes) That does sound like Maria. But Brooke, Maria is gone. She has been gone for five years. Dont you think if Maria was alive she would be with Sam and Maddie? She wouldn't just live without her babies. She would want to be with them.
Brooke: (Brooke is crying) And you. She would want to be with you also Edmund. (Edmund pulls Brooke in close and holds her with her arms around his neck) But what if she doesnt remember you, and that is why she isnt home with your family?
Edmund: (Edmund pulls his head back from holding Brooke to look into her eyes) Brooke, baby, she is gone. (Edmund puts his hands on Brookes tear streaked cheeks)It took me along time to get through the pain of loosing her. (two tears drop from Edmunds eyes then he flashed a quick smile at Brooke) Now me and you are finally giving us a second chance, and we are ready to start a new life together. I want you to be my wife Brooke English. I have wanted to be married to you since the day we met. How can I assure you that you are the only woman I think about? I am going to spend the rest of my life trying to keep you happy. Oh, and I am not going to waste one second of our time chasing after this lady... Maureen Gorman. (Edmund makes a big smile) I could be using those valuable seconds to make love to you.
(Brooke laughs through her tears at thought of sex with Edmund only taking seconds)
Brooke: (She dries her tears with her sleave) You're not even curios about.....?
Edmund: No, the only thing I am curios about, is if you are going to spend tonight making up for the time you were away from me these last few lonely nights? (Edmund drops one hand to hold Brookes waist and he pulls her in as close as he can and the other hand moves to her chin and he pulls her lips in for a few romantic kisses.)
Brooke: (Edmund starts kissing her neck) Yes... (trying to catch her breath) I think I need to spend tonight showing you how much I love you.
They stand together in the center of the living room kissing for a moments. Edmund starts to unbotton the top of Brookes blouse with both hands and pulls it down enough to kiss her shoulder. Brooke runs her fingers down the back of his neck and rubs his back. She whispers something into his ear and giggles.
Edmund smiles and says, "I love you Brooke" Then he picks her up and carries her upstairs to the bedroom kissing the whole way.
