Topic:   North America, South America, Asia, Europe, Africa
Activity Time: 1-2  class periods
Materials Needed:
1.  continent map
2.  globe (several globes if possible)
3.  cut out pieces of North America, South America, Asia,     
      Europe, Africa, Australia, Antarctica one for demo, one set       for each student.
4.  atlas
5.  child's map (blue construction or bulletin-board paper with
     outlines of continents pre-drawn by teacher)
6.  crayons, glue

Objectives:
As a result of this activity, the learner will:  identify North America as the continent on which we live; identify Africa as the continent on which Zimbabwe lies; identify other continents.

Introduction:
1.  Show globe and review concepts from previously taught activites.  Example (a) a globe is a model of the Earth; (b) a map is a pciture of the Earth; (c) we call the land on the maps continents; (d)  there are seven continents.

Major instructional Sequence:
1.  Ask pupils to locate North America on globe and map.  Match your demo piece with North America on the map.  Ask what they kno about North America
2.  Locate North America in the atlas and have pupils name it.
3.  Show map and hold your demo piece of South America.
4.  Pupils find South America on the  map and match the demo piece with South America on the map.
5.  Pupils find south America on the globe.
6.  Show South America in the atlas and discuss.
7.  Repeat until all of the continents are put on the paper.

Closure or Evaluation
1.  Each child colrs in cut-out pieces of North and South America and glues them to his/her map.
