Have children discuss the houses or apartments they live in 2. Have children discuss what houses may looked like in other countries Major Instructional Sequence: 1. Have children draw a picture of their house and discuss their drawings 2. Explain to the children that sometimes people have to make houses out of the material that is around them 3. Pass around pictures of traditional Zimbabwe houses 4. Show the children that they will make little houses like these by making cylinders for the base and cones for the roof out of clay and putting it on a piece of cardboard. Let each child try his/her own method 5. Point out in the pictures that sometimes the people use leaves and grass to make the roof. 6. Have the children collect grass and leaves to add to their houses and put in their ziploc bags (this can be done before the project is started) Closure or Evaluation 1.
