| Background Information Many people talk about Africa as if it was one country or refer to it as such. However, Africa is a continent made up of over 50 countries, each with its own diverse culture and history. I chose Zimbabwe because, as a child, the only time I ever heard anything about Africa was about Egypt or in reference to the slave trade. As a teacher I would like my students to learn about Zimbabwe and other countries of the world; their traditions, people, history, art, culture, and much more through the lesson plans and activities I have created. I want them to recognize that there is a world out there beyond their backyard. Zimbabwe is just a starting place. |
