My Step-Daughter
21 years of age

Kia Jo came into my life when she was a young teenager, and I had already raised one of my sons.  We have gone through many life changing moments together. Although she is not mine by birth. She is mine in my heart, and at times that is when it counts.  

• Understanding of the difficulties raising a daughter.

• Asserting my life experiences on one that is innocent, was so profound in my life.

• Girls really are different than boys when you are trying to teach them right from wrong.

• Discovery of someone more stubborn than myself.

• New and sometimes difficult ways to assert discipline.

• Determination to get what you want in life, even when deemed unsuitable to others.

• Making the best of an imperfect situation..

• The joy of being considered the person she wants to call "Mom".

• Taking pleasure in finally having the daughter I had always hoped for.
