Three cheers for the Dogs!
Ladydawgs set to support home team

Cheer for the Bulldogs, cheer for a win, come on crowd yell "Go fight, win.''

That is the cheer that can be heard from the sidelines during games for the Brampton Minor Football Association this season. Brampton Parks and Recreation Dance Program has its first-ever cheerleading program, the Ladydawgs.

The program was introduced last September and runs in nine-week sessions. The program was designed to not only teach children and teens a new dance style but to introduce them to a new way of combining dance, gymnastics (acro) and pure energy into a fun-filled jam-packed program.

Participants range from ages 6 to 15 and attend a one-hour class each week. Cheerleaders learn everything from team-building skills, funky dance routines and for the older class basic stunt techniques and tumbling.

The coaching staff includes Michelle Blinch, the reigning Miss Brampton International and Megan Kitson, the reigning Miss Ontario Royalty 2005. Both have an extensive cheer and dance background and are thrilled to be part of Brampton's first cheerleading squad.

They hope to share with their students the spirit, energy and fundamentals of cheerleading.

If you are interested in joining the Ladydawgs Cheerleading program or would like to book the cheerleaders to perform at an upcoming event contact program coordinator Michele Robinson at 905-874-2329.
