Robert of Huntingdon: (Man of the Nobles. Herne's Son) Robert is chosen by Herne to replace Robin. At first Robert is reluctant, and has a bit of a time trying to win the outlaws over, especially Will, who nearly kills him when first they meet. However, Robert proves himself, and eventually wins them, including Marion, who does fall in love with him in time. He, like Robin, falls in love with her at first sight. She eventually agrees to marry him, but due to a magical spell gone wrong, she finds a doppelganger Robert dead, killed by the REAL Robert, but she naturally assumes it is the REAL Robert dead, so she hies herself to a nunnery, and Robert is left standing at the altar. Robert is cocky and confident. At first he also has the added luxury of secrecy; the sheriff et al do not know he is the new Robin Hood. He is a better swordsman than Robin (comes from formal training, an aristocratic privilege), but it takes him longer to gain peoples' trust (an aristocratic sacrifice). He is also.... (drumroll).... GUY OF GISBURNE'S HALF-BROTHER! Thus he has a valid reason for keeping Guy alive, and a real weapon to use to keep Will's constant rage in check. He's also got blond hair and blue eyes... if you like that sort of thing ;) |
