| Herne the Hunter: (Horned God of the English Forests). In Robin of Sherwood, Herne is the Sherwood God who claims Robin for his son to fight against Evil, whether it takes the form of the Sheriff or the Wolf god Fenris. Herne speaks in riddles, and as you can see, has a stag's head. Herne is not generally part of the Robin Hood legend. In fact, Herne has his own story, not even remotely to do with Sherwood. Rather, he is said to haunt the Windsor forest, as the god of the Wild Hunt.
