I’ll Be Your Man©
Received your picture in the mail today
And I could only sit and stare;
For you are lovelier than I remembered
And your beauty is beyond compare.

As I sat there, my mind raced in time
To those special moments—that we shared;
And my heart was filled with a loneliness
And the sorrow was so hard to bear.

For I remembered the deep love you had for me;
How ‘because of prior commitments,’ I’d made you wait;
Of how when you had confessed this love for me
I sang you that song, “You came along---one promise too late.”

But when my memories reached those happy thoughts,
My heavy heart was lightened—and I began to smile.
Then I thanked God for his special blessing
Of knowing that you loved me---for awhile.

Then I was reminded that while traveling this road of life
It is only God that knows our fate
For our life on earth is predestined by God
And we must be patient in Him and wait.

And that “all things happen for a reason”
Even though it’s hard for us to understand
When the things we desire the most in life
Are always just beyond our outreached hand.

Still we must continue to keep our faith in God
For only in death---does all hope end
And the things we thought gone forever
In God’s planning may have only began.

So if it’s God’s will that ‘someday’ we rekindle our love
And that life on earth we finish---hand in hand,
Then there’s nothing  can stop that togetherness
For if it’s God’s will---I’ll be your man.
