WACKY CAKE from my mother, Harriette Corban Hayter

1-1/2 C flour		1 tsp vanilla
1 C sugar			5 Tbsp vegetable oil
1/2 tsp salt		1 Tbsp vinegar
1 tsp bkg soda		1 C cold water
3 Tbsp bakers cocoa

Mix all dry ingredients in an 8 x 8 pan.
Make three wells in the dry mix with the back
of a large spoon. Put each, vanilla, oil and
vinegar in it's own well. Pour the water over
the top and stir well.

Bake at 350-degrees for 40 minutes.

1-1/2 X the recipe for 9 x 13 pan

2-1/4 C flour	1-1/2 tsp vanilla
1-1/2 C sugar	7-1/2 Tbsp oil
* 1/2 tsp salt	1-1/2 Tbsp vinegar
1-1/2 tsp bkg soda	1-1/2 cup cold water
4-1/2 Tbsp cocoa

*Do not increase salt.

(With no eggs, this cake keeps very well. Mom 
shipped this to my brother when he was in the Navy 
in the Pacific in 1958. He said it was delicious!)
