Our Story!

Plus our granddaughter's favorite verse!

"I can do all things through  CHRIST  who strengthens me."

Phil. 4:13

"Yes, we can   . . .   can't we,   Bridget!"

Our lives will never be the same following the terrorist activities of September 11, 2001!
The following day we quietly marked our 42nd wedding anniversary by celebrating our togetherness and the safety of those we love. Thank you, God.

9/11 Firefighters

~ ~ ~

My husband, Mike, is a retired*Connecticut firefighter and member of a paramedic-rescue team. I ran my own custom dress-making business. Married in 1959, we have three grown children. Mike has called me Ladybug' since the early 1960's when our children had the nicknames, Bunny Rabbit, Tiger and Little Bear. They wanted to know why Mommy didn't have one and their daddy said, "Mommy's my Ladybug," . . . and it stuck! . . . LB

While living at the Connecticut shore, we were the typical busy family enjoying our church, school, and scout activities. As a family, we shared many camping vacations until the children absorbed themselves with many school and scout activities that busied their weekends. So . . . we traded our camper and bought a sailboat. Living only ten minutes from Milford harbor, our proximity allowed us to take advantage of the waters of Long Island Sound for eleven years, but . . . life presented us with a proverbial "lemon" in 1986 when Mike sustained a back injury at work. One year later, we retired to Florida to make our "lemonade."

Mike is a true "jack of all trades." He was our carpenter, plumber, electrician, gardener, and helpmate! After his injury, the physical aspects of his talents had to take a back seat, however. Mike made my passing the half-century mark a tad easier when he built a cherry grandfather's clock for me. (My word, that clock is fifteen already?) He supervised the construction of our Florida home; a tremendous bonus allowed by our builder (my employer at the time). Shared household chores makes life pleasant as does the southern pace of life!

Let me switch now to how the computer has affected my life. My first computer was purchased in 1993 and in 1996 the Net bug "bit"!   I thoroughly enjoyed numerous writing courses at Spectrum Virtual University and written a number of pieces, plus a book for our first grandchild.

An "E-mail classmate" from Michigan "dated," was "courted" then married a virtual friend who lived 4,000 miles away in Alaska! Our study group wanted to attend their wedding, but that didn't work, so later on Mike and I drove up to visit them.   The trip took place during the summer of 1999 - go to: ALASKA BOUND.

My Fall 1997 HTML class was fascinating and helped me produce these pages. Best of all through the various courses, are the new friends from all around the world. What a delight to "visit" someone out there on the Big Blue Marble ~ Alaska, Austria, New Zealand, etc. In addition, I have two "pen-friends" found through Peace Links who live in Novy Svet, Ukraine, and in Perm, Russia. We have been corresponding via snail-mail for five years. They shame me with their near-perfect English (my one and only language). My prayer now is that the Internet might be made available for them!

There are wonderful "big and little ones" in our lives; a special young lady, our soon-to-be sixteen-year-old Bridget, lures us to New Jersey quite often;   she's my "Little Blue Pigeon with Velvet Eyes" ~ grown up!

We have a grandson right here in Spring Hill. Quinlin amazes us with his rapid growth and development. We also have two more little granddaughters, Kayla Marie in Aurora, CO, born Jan. 2002 and Fiona Hope, Quinlin's little sister, born Nov. 2002. What fun it is to have them in our lives! As you might imagine, they are all prime targets for photography.
I try to update our FAMILY page as often as I can.

Life's many challenges are inevitable.
Our personal mission statement includes that we honor God, surround
