A RED ROSE FOR MOMMA
Ruth and her life as I (daughter) seen it...
This is Mother with granddaughter Sasha. They looked happy here grinning from ear to ear! :) Photo was taken in the 80's.
Mother & Aunt Mary posing by Mary's car after they'd been on the usual Sunday drive.
This is one of Mom's favorite photographs of her youngest daughter Patty! I remember vividly the day of the take! She was hoping for a good picture to enter Patty in the "Little Miss Sunbeam" contest! Patty was blonde and blue eyed, thus cute as a button, what the company seeked. :)
RELIGION. . . She believed deeply in God & Jesus Christ. Endlessly she studied the bible, attending several church meetings trying to find herself. She finally settled for the Mormon belief. She'd been extremely spiritual, participating in the church as the secretary.
Mary Ruth spent most of her time as a domestic home-maker raising a family of seven. I feel if she'd not taken on the role as mother and home-maker, she would have been a great business lady. My theory was; she'd been aggressive in the business field making it to the top. She was always available when one needed advice and would generally give the best. Young people were aways attracted to her because she appeared to communicate well with them in need and stress. She had the technique that lured the enthusiastic star eyed teenager. :) She'd listen with empathy and give advice knowing the parent would be angry in most cases. However, she had her priorities in order and would always stand by her advice. Me & Sasha
ACHIEVEMENTS. . . she had much of this! Chiefly in the parent department. Nevertheless, she went forward optimistic in her church work making friends, principally making a history for herself. She'd recorded her feelings on paper and will live on upon earth through this effort.. Extraordinary mother and wife, she set forth to make her memories alive. I attribute my determination in life to my mother. She had been a person with much sensitivity, and in retrospect, a woman with much strength. One day maybe her story can be in print.
Our mother and her nephew John taken years ago. She was in her twenties at this take. Pretty lady! Cute baby. ;) She had been very close to most of the family members. Her warm meek nature won her many friends and closeness with other family members. Actually she had made a good half team for our dad. He depended on her as much as she did him. Mom had been a very spiritual individual and she and I chatted at great lengths about the other side. Saturdays we kept the phone lines hot just discussing the other side and ghost stories! :) It's been over five years and I miss her deeply, especially on Saturdays. The most painful day of the week!
Mother (Ruth) at one of her most happiest moments. She had a great sense of humor, one of the traits I loved an remember well about her. And this is one of her favorite pictures. Called the Grandmas This is grandmother Honaker and the other grandmother "anna" with their grandchildren and Anna's daughter "Mitch!"
Sasha
Sasha at age eight. The 3rd granddaughter of Ruth & Clarence. She's nineteen years old now. Misses her grandmother gravely as they were very close.
Genie, genie in a bottle! :) This is Sasha in a Halloween costume, now 19 years old. Genie in a bottle too! Genie
In this old photograph, on the left is Mom with two of her children, Shelby & Frank. On the right, Myrt & her mother (grandmother Gillespie) and Corrine with her dog, Myrt's daughter.
READING This is a special gift for all of us and the grandsons of Mary Ruth & Clarence Gillespie enjoy their books reading most all the time! :) Here is Gary L. all primed for his duties, relaxing with his favorite books on Law. GARY L Next to him in another part of the house is Neil, reading his favorite book based on business Law. NEIL They both appear crazed at times from the excess of reading! HA! Down below is the brothers when they were little toe heads...the age they spent more time around Mom and Dad.
Brothers I can clearly see the expression on Gary Lee's face of disgust, his rejection of the doll in the photograph with him and Neil.:) Neil chows down on his bottle unaware the doll is even there. He enjoyed wrestling with the doll daily! LOL Liile cowboys They were very close as little boys, Neil always looking up to his big brother! Here they snuggle close as they pose with the cowboy gear! :)
