Mama
She only got to go to school
just far enough to read
But even so, she taught us well
and cared for all our needs
She never wished for finer things
at least, we didnt know
She always seemed to be content
if not, it didnt show
She was our mother and our teacher
our nurse and our best friend
All these things our mother was
our list could never end
She washed and ironed, cooked and sewed
and cared for all us kids
No one could do, no more for us
than what our mother did
She didnt ask for "thank yous"
or expect a lot of praise
She never asked for any thing
just another of her ways
We all have wished for finer things
than mama ever got
And now, we have our finer things
but our mama we have not
Shes gone on to a finer home
she finally has the best
And we all know where mama is
she finally got to rest
She always seemed to be content
with our daddy for her friend
her family and her "good book"
forever and amen
To the Glory of God
For mama our forever "Friend of Gold"

There once was a time when most kids had to walk miles
to school and by the time they got there it would be
almost time to turn around and go back home. Back
then times were such that most were needed to help at
home anyway. Such were the times of our mothers childhood.
Wed 62 years to our daddy,.before God called her home on
March 15, 1987. Mother of seven children who miss her dearly.

OUR FRIEND OF GOLD
"A friend is worth much more than gold"
Ive heard my mother say
And O how rich my mother was
the day she went away
God must have needed mothers gold
in heavens flower bed
Ten thousand flowers by her side
white satin for her head
"A friend is worth much more than gold"
her blessing to us all
The purest gold our mother was
her name the angels called
The angels sang with her friends of gold
The song of mothers choice
"I Love to Tell the Story"
One could almost hear her voice
Then to remind us that our mother is
where she always prayed to be
Theres a "Mansion Over the Hilltop"
they sang so joyfully
Her day is done...our time goes on
and heaven only knows
How much we miss our precious mom
our purest friend of gold
"A friend is worth much more than gold"
Ive heard my mother say
And Ohhh.....how rich my mother was
the day she went away
With much love forever to the Glory to God
for our mama .....Sept. 13, 1990 js
