Sabbats

The ancient Celts measure the solar year on a wheel, circle or spiral, which symbolized for them the whole universe. There are four major divisions of the ancient Celtic year which corresponded to the spring (vernal) equinox, the summer solstice, the autumn equinox and the winter solstice ---- each of these has a distinct characteristic. The celebrations are associated with the life cycles of the Celtic deities.

Samhain- Feast of the dead remembrace of people gone who were important to us. It  marks the end of the Celtic year and the start of spiritual year.

Yule- The winter soltice. It is the rebirth of the sun and gradual lengthening of days toward springtime and new life

Imbolic- (brides day) start of spring and the return of the Goddess to the land.

Ostara- (easter) Spring Equinox. It is the returning of the sun from the south, springtime proper.

Beltane- (Mayday) Summertime begining celebrating new life and the holy marriage of God and Goddess

Midsomer or Litha- This is the summer solstice. Everything is green thanks to the God of nature the green man.

Lammas or Lughasadh- The festival of the first (corn) harvest

Mabon- This is the second (fruit) harvest celebration making plans for the winter months to come

Blessed be to all who choose to walk the path. As my knowledge increases
so will my pages. This is for all those that are just starting to learn or those
that are just curious. Paganism is a broad term used to describe any belief or religion that is not Christian, Muslim or Jewish.  It is an earth based religion whos emphasis is based on the worship of all aspects of nature.
