Fire is one of the four classical elements of nature thought to constitute the manifest universe. Along with air, it is also considered a male element. The direction south, action courage, struggle, animosity, jealous, anger, the color orange, the metal gold, the sword (the witches’ tool) and the Tarot suit sword are all associated with fire. Fire was believed to be able to destroy evil, which was the reason that Witches were burned at the stake.

Without Fire to prod the other elements along, the world would likely settle into a rather uninteresting fixed state
