Some characteristic associated with earth are the direction north, fertility, darkness, quiet, practicality, thrift, acquisition, patience, responsibility, boredom, stagnation, the color green, the pentacle (the witches tool) and the Tarot suit pentacle. Earth is considered to be a female element. All know names for earth (Ertha, Terra and Europa for example) have been female. It is the element of form, binding and manifestation.
