Scroll details:
Lady Ysabeau Tiercelin Order of the Lamp

Watercolor paper, goache for color, black technical pen for small black details, gold areas rendered in (forgive me I don`t know the name of it) some Oriental solid watercolor block paint (it`s written in Chinese characters...) and white gel pen for tiny white details on goache.
As I know the recipient well, she is pictured in one of her pearl-studded garb creations in the illuminated capital letter "O"...
The whole design layout is partly based on "Ecclesia from Psalm 101, East Anglian Gorleston Psalter, England, early 14th C"...the rather 60`s style lettering comes from my own scattered memories of the time; and I often joke (fondly) that THIS particular scroll would be the only non-period item that this woman owns!
My thanks to the Lady Tiercelin for scanning this for me, as I had completely forgotten about keeping a record of my unorthodox altering of a period illumination!

Order of the Lamp, Gullveig

This recipient is as authentic a Viking persona as I could ever hope to see!  That being said, I needed a Scandinavian-look to this award--and as I was a bit short on time, I chose interlaced-cords as a design...in a fit of "ooh, it NEEDS something" I added the colored spaces...reminscent of Italian white-vine work (except that the "vines" are metallic...)
Also, I chose a runic-look alphabet for her text--not having the time to do an actual Futhark research!
Hope she likes it!

Materials: Watercolor paper, metallic gold and silver Krylon leafing pens, fine-tip watercolor markers for colored spaces, permanent fine-line brown pen for lettering, size 005 technical black pen for details--notice not a BIT of paintbrush use here!
