Order of the Keystone
Kingdom award for service
For Robert of Worcester

As I had NO idea as to what to put on this scroll, I relied on the tried-and-true formula of "if you can`t dazzle `em with brilliance, beat `em with bull----!"  (saw it on a T-shirt somewhere...)
So I cluttered up the borders in as much medieval drollerie illumination that I could think of, incorporating His Majesty Rurik Longsword and his Queen Angelik into the fancy capital "B".  Other items appear; Robert`s arms within the scrolling vines, a trio of rabbits fencing and shooting apples off of trees...and in a play on His Majesty`s personal arms, three black dogs act as supporters for the Keystone device...the third dog, not having duties, takes a snooze.  A small tiger-stripe cat hisses at the dogs from within the vines, and a little green frog catches a fly.  Every other available space was filled with SOMETHING...this was fun!

Order of the Keystone
Dagr Snaebjorn Bjarnarson

Based on numerous margin illuminations of the 13th century, Lord Dagr appears just to the left of the illuminated capital, and also within that capital as the adult among the youth in their fighter program, of which he was an integral part as leader and organizer.  His arms appear on the heater shield, and a white bear with a fish in its mouth meanders across the top margin.
I have this thing about creating rhymes for my scrolls--when the lines "work" it is great!  Not so sure if it is period practice...but it`s different from the usual award-scroll wording!
