Lord Taranach McLeod, Order of the Zule

The Zule is a service award, given by the Baron/Baroness for exceptional service to the Barony...

This scroll was my first scroll EVER; needless to say I was nervous about doing it, messing up, etc...and I found that creating award scrolls was JUST the creative outlet for me!

I was told to "just compose something", and so this scroll ended up as rhyming verse...do NOT ask me why!

The illuminated capital was inspired by extant works in the Book of Kells, the text is my own version of "uncial"; with the initial letter of each sentence decorated...like I said, my first attempt!
Lady Deianera Rodriguez y Aragones, Order of the Zule

My second award scroll ever, the design was greatly influenced by the tutorial site of Mistress Dairine of the Gutenburg School of Scribes...Thank you Mistress Dairine!

Text script, a cross between what I then called "batarde" and "gothic"...as you see, I had a lot to learn!

But very colorful, I loved painting this one.

Ellisif of the Endless Hills, Order of the Zule

Now we are getting into what I like best, personalizing the scroll design to fit the recipient`s favorite things...in this case, I knew that Ellisif liked unicorns..
I found a picture of one of "The Unicorn Tapestries" and added a drawing to the bottom of her scroll; it just seems to fit quite well with the thorny/leafy border and the uncial script.

I think that this scrolling vine design is becoming one of my favorites!  Look for it on an AoA scroll to follow!
