I'm finding that the simplest things can remind you of a loved one. The smell of fabric softener is a good example. I didn't think about where my shirt was washed last when I went to put it on. All I know is when I did, it smelled so familiar. It gave me a sense of calm and tenderness. Then I realized what the smell was from and who it reminded me of. Jim. Now, as I sit here typing this I tend to stop for a moment and smell my shirt. It reminds me of the way he softly touches my knee as he drives. I'm not sure why that particular thing pops in my head with this smell but it does. It makes me smile too.I'm reminded also of the fact that it's said that absence makes the heart grow finder and that if you truly love someone you will wait an eternity for them. If both of those sayings are true then that would be the ultimate test of a relationship. I wonder how I'm going to fair.
