So pleased that
you decided to drop by my
Victorian home!
Won't you rest for awhile?

Won't you join me for some coffee or tea? And I
truly love
to bake...could I entice you to
some of my goodies?
Let's see...I keep an array of dessert breads on
hand.
Pumpkin bread, cranberry and banana
bread.
Since my daughter isn't here I have them all
lavished with
nuts! But, if you prefer I can
take some from the freezer to thaw without the
nuts.
Please just help me to remember and replace them
before
Lady Pattricia (Swan) comes home.
She is a pistol that one and she'll be rolling
those eyes,
waving her hands and saying,
"Now you brought me into this world and you can't
remember
what I like?" LOL:)
Oh, yes...I have some peach, apple and blackberry
cobbler
as well...
or if you prefer a slice or two of hot baked
bread with an
assortment of jams or jellies.
Just sit back and rest!

I guess that you couldn't help but notice I LOVE
to garden
as well. I have some of the
prettiest roses around.
Then of course all my butterfly bushes,
hollyhocks, Rose of
Sharon's, hummingbird vines,
native passionflower to your right there.
Growing on
my arbor trellis are several varieties of
clematis...I
can't ever decide which
is my favorite! "S"
Then I have all my hosta's, peonies, star-gazer
lilies,
lilac bushes and to your left a
spearmint patch...
Swan likes it in her water when she's here. When
she's home
in the summer you can't find
her in the house.
She'll be at the river or sitting out here on the
gazebo or
one of the porches looking at
the flowers.
Ask her what's she up to and..."Well, I'm waiting
on the
hummers!" I often
wonder and think
she's trying to get out of work in the house! "G"
But, I
suspect it's truly
both.
There's one now! Oh..they are pretty little
things aren't
they?
Lord knows I have plenty for them to drink from
here. I
haven't even mentioned all my
other pretty plants and flowering
bushes...but,
my best
of all are my prize collections of Irises. What a
breathtaking show they put on in
May and June!
People come from miles round to see my collection
each
spring. They stand in awe and
wonder!
Yes, the good Lord made a real beauty when He
designed
these! Perhaps you will come to
visit in the spring as well.
And of course my home is really Victorian circa
1800. It's
housed many a business along
the way as well.
The first telephone office for this small quaint
town was
here in my home.
The room is now a bedroom but, the original door
is still
up and reads "TELEPHONE
OFFICE" .
Plus downstairs in the burgundy room it's been
home to a
barber shop, beauty shop,
clothing shop and a sporting good's store...to
name a few.
We've since restored the old
home and I have it
decorated with fine Victorian antiques with many
of my
crocheted pretties around and some
are for sale...
when I can get myself to part with them! You will
also note
I have many fine Victorian
prints and cobalt glass some vintage and some
reproductions. I retired from Postmistress
several years
back and now I've found myself Innkeeper to this
small but
beautiful
B&B.
Our small town is one that sleeps in the winter
but, being
in the Heart of The Ozark
National Scenic Riverway's
it explodes with activity from spring until late
fall.
Nestled in and at the bottom of the
hills on two clean clear flowing rivers..
The
Jacks
Fork and Current river.. it draws people from
many states.
For canoeing. john
boating, fishing, hunting, trail rides,
hiking and
visiting of all the beautiful springs. We're
known for our
springs and caves.
Every year there's the arts and crafts festivals
as well.
And during our huge trail rides and rodeos we are
host to
some fine country and western
stars. Since Branson is only a few hours away
many like to
come on a little more southeast
and visit. So the tourists love it you know. And
during the
spring and fall the hills are
prettier than any picture on canvas! The only way
to
describe our setting...God painted
this picture! And it's something you can carry
only in your
heart and mind.

I have two
children, Donald David and Pattricia and no
matter where
they roam in their hearts they
know when HOME is putting on a breathtaking
show...like a
clock ticking you know! And the
ole teley begins to ring on a regular
basis..."Momma, I
guess the hills are looking
pretty"...I think when it's spring, fall and
Christmas they
get homesick. They both
left twenty some years ago...but, it seems to get
harder
for them instead of easier. This
place kinda gets in the blood and you always want
to wander
back home. Life here isn't so
rushed and it's a bit gentler and kinder than the
rest of
the world!
Ah, so ...
Brandy's getting Married!
