The Japanese Elements

WOOD

These elements originated in China, then migrated to Japan.  They are used in most of the Orient still.  They were believed to compose the universe.  They affect the balance of one's fortune.  The more of one element you have in your personality, the more it affects your life.  We all have all the elements in ourselves, but one comes out the most.
Wood is the first element listed here.  Wood stays rooted firmly in earth, not moving unless forced.  Wood grows upward to the sky.  So while attached to the ground, it continues to reach for it's goal.  So you could say wood people have their head in the clouds and their feet on the ground - the practical dreamer.  Wood doesn't adapt to change well at all.  Just like a tree can usualy only survive in the spot it had been growing for all those years, a wood person can only survive were they have been growing.  You dig up a tree then replant it, it will most likely die.  Same goes with wood people, only their death is spiritul.
On the bright side, they are not easily shaken.  They stay rooted in their morals, not copromising them for anyone else.  They make up their minds and stick to it, which is good or bad depending on what it's about.  They tend to he happy people, unless of corse, forced to change.  Water feeds wood and wood feeds fire.  Metal destroys wood and wood destroys earth.

FIRE

Fire is a powerful element.  Fire people usualy have a temper to go with this element.  Fire can alter anything without itself bieng changed.  This can be good or bad.  It tends to be more bad than good, though.  Fire people are seen two different ways.  Warm and cold.  Just like a bonfire, they warm you from head to toe and your insides.  They can make you feel loved without trying hard at all.  They can also come across as cold, mostly because of their controled emotions.  They hardly ever change, but tend to burn people who get in too close.  Wood feeds fire and fire feeds earth.  Water destroys fire and fire destroys metal.

EARTH

Earth is an interesting element.  It is said that all life comes from earth and will one day will return there.  It is the most nuturing element, but without something to nurture, it just washes away.  It's the mother element.  In almost all cultures, earth is regarded as the all mother - Gaea, Pachamama, Blodeuwedd, Corn Woman, Vila, the list goes on.  The earth has the power to create and nuture.  Earth people do just that.  If it has nothing to holding  onto it, slowly it will wash away.  It needs to be needed.  It also devours the remains of all life eventualy, never truely letting any thing go.    Fire feeds earth and earth feeds metal.  Wood detroys earth and earth destroys water.

Metal

Here we are at my element.  Metal is the hardest of all the elements.  It is unable to be penitrated.  Metal people tend to not let people in, weither they know they do this or not.  They have a thick metallic shell which won't let anything penitrate it.  And metal can be sharp and cut, but not always.  Metal people can hurt, but only intentionaly, unlike fire.  Even so, their wit is usualy very sharp.  And metal tends to gravitate to extrimities.  Extreamly hard or extreamly soft.  Extreamly hot or extreamly cold.  It's hard for metal people to find a happy medium.  It's hard but not impossible.  Metal people tend to be fighters, something metal is all ways used for.  Earth feeds metal and metal feeds water.  Fire destroys metal and metal destroys wood.

WATER

Water is the most versatile of all elements.  It flows over anything.  It can change shape easily.  It can find a secret path that no one else has thought of, like a hole in the roof or the bottom of a box.  It can wash things away, wear things down and drown things.  It moves with ease where eve the current may take.  Water people adapt to change well. They can overcome all sorts of opsticals.  This is not without it's set backs, however.  Water people have very short attention spans and have a hard time staying on one task.  The current simply carries them away to the next part of the river.  They always shift from one thing to the next, never taking time to experience all that life has to offer at that point.  They do not choose where to go, but rather must follow the current.  They never stay in one place for long.  Metal feeds water and water feeds wood.  Earth destroys water and water destoys earth.

The Creative Order:
Wood feeds fire,
Fire burns to create earth
Earth contains metal
Metal can be melted and flow as water
Water enables wood to grow

The Destuctive Order:
Wood feeds from earth
Earth soaks up water
Water puts out fire
Fire melts metal
Metal cuts into wood
