Your choices have pointed towards the Wolf as a possible phenotype. Here is some information about wolves. I encourage you to seek out other information about wolves if this is in fact your phenotype. Wolves represent the wild, unspoiled spirit of the wilderness. Condemned for years on unfounded rumors and hear say, the wolf is probably the most misrepresented and misunderstood animal in the world. Wolves are the epitome of the wild spirit and as such are revered for it. There are several kinds of wolves in North America, ranging from the red wolf ( suspected to be extinct in the wild) to the Arctic wolves ( the purest of remaining wolves in north America).Wolves are friendly, social, and highly intelligent. They have a strong sense of family, loyalty and are goverened by rule and ritual. Most wolves are about the size of a German Shepard, although their coats may make them appear to be somewhat larger. Their behavior is based on a hierarchical structure which is neither autocratic or democratic. Their positions within a pack are determined by ritualistic behaviors in relationship to everyone else within the pack. There are times when noth occur, but this adds flexibilty to the governing system of the pack. Within a pack there is an 'Alpha' male and female. Each wolf has a function and position within the structure of the pack. Wolves do not fight unnessisarily and often a glance, posture or growl is all that is needed to determine dominance. Although a wolf may not have to demonstrate his capabilities, he is able to assert them at anytime. Wolves have a complex communication system of body language and vocals. The movement of tail, head, eye contact all have significant meanings which the cubs learn at an early age. Howls are equally as complex and important serving as anything from a warning to a social expression. The alpha male and female mate for life. All pack members attend to the cubs, and show great care and affection towards the pups. Wolves tend to pray on the young, the weak or the old. They will not waist time on a healthy adult that stands it's ground. Wolves can cover long distances when hunting, and can hunt for long periods of time. Ravens are alos linked to wolves, as it has been suggested that wolves use ravens to find prey, a sign of the wolf's intelligence. |
