This piece of Ella's almost seems like a continuance from Tobias's picture from the same part of volume I. While Tom checks to see whether he has shot Skinner or Elizabeth's invisible attacker, de Gaulle levels a gun with the intention of shooting them both. Aided by her father's memory (or was it something more than that?), Elizabeth manages to pick up Tom's gun and bring down her tormentor once and for all. (Bonus love for the entirely happy-looking shadow of a marauding Mr. Hyde!)
