If you were wondering, "Is that...Everett?" -- the answer is yes! Ella apparently has reached straight into my brain to extract this image, which is of Elizabeth dancing with her increasingly less welcome suitor at the ball in volume IV, and coming to the conclusion that "my heart knows to whom it belongs." (And it sure wasn't Everett.) As usual, the artist's attention to detail is what makes this a masterpiece; I think it might be my second favorite of her illustrations thus far, with only "Seeing" outranking it. Elizabeth's dress is exquisite, and her expression is perfect. I really love the Jekylls, standing in the background, and Nemo too; but it is Skinner's obvious displeasure that completes the picture. As my best friend put it, "All he needs is a little black cloud over his head!"
