-Rules-
NOTE: Additional rules are at the bottom of most of the boards. Those are specific to those areas, though. The ones here apply everywhere
General Rules
These apply to the entire game
- I am the almighty ruler. What I say goes. You can respectfully disagree, but be civil and obey what I say. - No powerplaying. (Forcing another player to do something. Playing as another player. I'll warn you) - No foul language. I will tolerate a bit of moderate language, but it's safer not to - Keep your posts PG or PG-13 (mostly in fighting and breeding)- Stay in character except in OOC (Out Of Character) boards, or put OOC in your post - Act according to the weather posted on the front page and any disasters I choose to inflict. Moohaha! - Although seasons change, you don't need to age your character at any set rate- A character can't be killed unless the player wants them to be- Forcebreeding (breeding to a mare against her will) is allowed in: any territory and Bachelor Beach, but you must allow the mare a chance to at least fight back.- Fighting is allowed everywhere except the Glen, but if you wish to gain something from it, go to the Cliffs of War- Minor, or first, offenses get you a warning, second offenses get you banned for a week, and major offenses can result in you being banned completely- Speaking of offenses. I understand that a few people do have siblings who play here. However, since I have no way of verifying these claims, this is the rule for siblings: if someone on your IP breaks a rule once, you may blame it on a sibling. If it happens again, however, I will assume you did it and punish you accordingly. I'm sorry, but I have no way of being sure that things actually were siblings
Posts
These are some guidelines for writing your posts. You don't have to follow them... but I (or your fellow RPers) might get annoyed if you don't. Obviously, experienced RPers probably know all of this.
- Use proper spelling, or as close as you can get- Capitalization is nice too- Indicate speech - with quotes (" "), asterisks (*), bold font, underlines, or italics.
- For the love of the light... no internetspeak. (sry, g2g, lol, anything else seen on AIM. OOC is fine if you don't overdo it, IC it's extremely annoying)
Stallions
These only apply to males over four (4) years old
- You may only have one territory per IP address. If you want to play multiple stallions, go ahead, but you can only have one territory
If your stallion is co-owner, you may have another stallion also be a co-owner, but if you want solitary control, you only get one terra- You may claim two mares per week from anywhere except Femme Forest and the Glen.- If another stallion is suspended, no stealing his mares or challenging him- This is on the away board too, but if you are gone without explanation beforehand for more than a week, or with explanation for more than two months, you forfeit any lands and titles you may have
Mares
These only apply to females over four (4) years old
- If you are claimed, you must go with the stallion. No temper tantrums- If you are asked though, it's your choice- Mares actually can own territories now, which they can inherit or fight for, but if you want to be totally free of stallions, go to Femme Forest- If another horse, mare or stalllion, is suspended, no challenging them- The only mares who may fight for other mares are herd leaders (as in, their name is on the Path. Subordinate-to-stallion queens may not)
Foals
These apply only to characters under four (4) years old
- Foals must stay foals for at least a week- Foals can't fight or breed- Foals may decide to leave their herd when they turn three, but if they stay for a week, they are in that herd- Foals can be driven out of their herd prematurely if they are not related to the lead stallion. Be warned, adulterers :)- MARES: To find a person to play your foal, post in Chat.
Breeding/Birthing
- Breeding may take place anytime
- The foal will be born a real-life week after the breeding
- If the foal is born in the late spring, summer, or early fall, it will probabaly survive
- Foals born in the winters usually die, and close to the winter are usually weak
Elements of Fantasy/Disasters and Such
Occasionally, horses may be blessed with unusual powers or a natural disaster will hit the Meadows.
- Powers are supposed to be rare, don't ask for them - They'll be given out maybe (very maybe) one a season, on the "Events" page
- Otherwise, powers must be inherited, and even that is not surefire
- No joining with powers unless you are new and/or have no characters here with any sort of power
- If your character has some sort of shapeshifting power (or were-thing, in short anything that lets them be not a horse), they may not go around in their secondary form all the time. This is a horse RP and I would like it to remain so. If "all the time" isn't clear enough, let's say that if more than half of that character's posts are as not-a-horse, I'll take issue with it
- If you are affected by a disaster, you must RP it. No ignoring the gods! :)
- If your character doesn't want a gift, they may give it away within three (3) days to whomever they please
Fighting
- You may not challenge a stallion for his terra until a week has passed since he ended the last terra battle (fights for mares don't count)
- You may not challenge a stallion for any of his mares until at least three days have passed since he ended the last fight for a mare (even if she isn't the one you want)
- The same character cannot challenge another stallion more than twice a month, for terras or mares
- When you do challenge for a mare or terra, you must post both on the Cliffs and at that stallion's terra
- There are no time rules for fun fights or fights between mares who are not acting as herd leaders
Humans
- You may not join humans here - the link for our siamese-sister site is on the front page, join there
- A given player may have only one human in MM at a time; if you have a human character in an active thread, you better not have any others wandering around here
- As with any fighting, the human's player must give the horse they are trying to capture a fair chance (no powerplaying/godmodding)
- Horses cannot talk to humans, nor humans to horses, not even telepathic ones
- Horses from MM may cross over to the human land (again, unless Tex says otherwise, only one uncontrolled, uncaptured horse per player may be in the other site) in an attempt to free a comrade, but please be reasonable, folks, no matter how smart a horse is, they are not going to understand doorknobs (or be able to work them even if they figure out the concept) or electricity, or guns, or just about anything human that you don't see real horses using
Other Stuff That Doesn't Go Anywhere Else
But read it anyway- There can be as many stallions in a herd as the lead feels like- But you can't "claim" stallions, that's just odd- If you want your territory to go to a certain stallion (or mare) after your character retires/dies/whatever, put his name on your territory as the "heir"- I reserve the right to go around telling peoples to improve their posts- No OOC fights anywhere. Take it somewhere else
