Elemental Magick: AIR

Element: Air
Represents: free mind, creativity, illumination, divination, philosphy, awareness, wisdom, knowledge, perception, the mind.
Deities: Athena, Buddha, Mercury, Thoth, Nuit, Aradia, Arianrhod.
Animals: owl, dove, hawk, eagle, bird.

This was usually done by the Shaman of the tribe or village. He would go out into a field with the shaman drum and stand in front of a huge smoking fire. Begin drumming up the spirits and singing:
"Diana, Diana, Diana....
I am summoning 45 spirits from the West!
I am summoning 45 spirits from the East!
I bring now furies of hail, furies of water,
Their limbs with lightning afire,
Biting with water into our fields.
Enthroned Queens of Fire,
The archers with the sacred bows and arrows,
The gatherers of rain from the wide skies,
Graciously be merciful to us!
Our fields and herbs with blessings keep safe!
Rains, rains, rains, give from your wide skies
Burst water upon us!
Behold our wine in your chalice,
Accept our offerings to you!
Send the dark clouds over us,
Surround our fields with stormy rains.
You who wield the thunderbolts, we call upon Thee!
Blessed be! Blessings be!"

Draw a moon symbol on the ground with flour and barley then dance around them. If you really need a large storm, work on it for three consecutive evenings at dusk. Use wands (air) instead of knives. Use air instruments like cymbals, rattles, etc.

Light a purple candle whenever you study. Light incense and meditate on your goal. Say:
"Goddess of wisdom, to you I pray.
My mind clear and receptive stay;
All in true accord with thee,
As my word, so mote it be!
Give me light! Blessed be."

Anoint a blue candle with lotus oil. Set a picture or statue of an owl next to the candle. Spend time talking with the Goddess about the wisdom you wish to attain. Light the candle.

"Wise Athena, great counselor, Teach me waking and sleeping. Send me omens true and dreams wise. Instruct me in your great wisdom. I open my heart and mind to you, Wise One. I ask for your all-knowing counsel and guidance That my good may come quickly!" Lay out a tarot spread and analyze it. Then say: "Grant skills of the hands and justice. Great Athena, make me wise. Protection, all of the wonderful arts Are yours to bestow, Bright Eyes. You who are both skillful and strong. Guide my steps, keep me from wrong." Let the candles burn out.
