The best way (and usually turns out to be the easier way) to train your dog is to issue commands during play. For instance, if I wanted Ceasar to roll his ball to me, I would ask him, "Ceasar, that's my ball..." he wags. "Here." he rolls the ball to me. "Leave it" he backs off (a speck) "Ceasar, around" he runs around as i taught him from my right side going behind and to my left at the heal position. His reward is usually a kick of the ball with a "Good boy!" and he chases the ball and continues to have fun until I call to him again, or he comes back for more. He usually will come back immediately to play some more. All the while obeying my commands. And having fun. Playing is so important. SO KEEP ON PLAYING. <woof woof> I tried to capture Ceasar playing with his indestructible ball at night. I apologize for the quality. |
