Garb Workshops to Be Scheduled (in no particular order):
(i.e. I've talked to the instructors but just haven't confirmed a date yet)
Directions:
Take your best route to MIT, in Cambridge, MA.
http://whereis.mit.edu/doc/getting-to-mit.html for directions on how to get to MIT from the North, South, West, by MBTA, or by Hood blimp (seriously!).
To Building 13-5105:
From 77 Massachusetts Ave: Go straight to enter the Infinite Corridor.
At the midpoint (Lobby 10), take a left turn, and walk down the hall (pass the
art gallery either on the right or left side - it doesn't matter) to Lobby
13. Take an elevator to the 5th floor. Turn left. 13-5101 is the first
classroom on the left. [Note: if you take an elevator from lobby 10, take it to the fourth floor. Buildings 10 and 13 are offset by 1/2 floor, for some
wacky reason.]
From East campus [Kendall T stop]: [From Kendall, exit the T, go west on Main st, turn left on Ames St, enter courtyard and walk past ugly modern buildings until you reach the pretty classical building, 8, the east entrance to the Infinite Corridor] Enter the Infinite Corridor. At lobby 10, turn right instead of left, follow directions as above.
***Handicapped-accessible route*** From Vassar St [between Massachusetts and Main St]: Walk between buildings 38 and 39 (or between 39 and 37 - be a rebel!). [You will pass the rooms used for Accademia (building 31) on your right.] Building 13 is the ugly modern one straight ahead. Enter the lobby of building 13, which should be unlocked unless hell has frozen over. Take elevator to 5th floor, turn left.
Notes:
A few of the topics, especially the later periods, may be offered more than once by different instructors. This
is because there are more numerous styles and options, plus the garb making becomes more and more complicated and
people may need more than one session to really get a good handle of the technique.
If you are interested in
teaching something that is already featued, that's fine! I would still encourage you to set something up for
the topic; there are always people who are interested in the topic but may not be able to make the time on the
schedule.
