A floating white puffball of dandelion and soft coo of fluttering dove were the only signs. Heavily laden and lead-gray clouds stirred the tempest brew. Weeping and whipping gusts of wind circled from whimper to howl. leaves drifted...then flung... birds huddled. Parched fields were close and warm with the scent of coming rain and waiting barley. A crackled surge of electric air lashed and pierced in a thin leaping volt of yellow-white sky fire. A luminous clap-boomed explosion of thunderous din burst forth a shaken rolling roar through a jagged rent in the unfolding sky amid the escaped deluge of torrential rain. Spiderwebs caught the drops as reflected diamond dew. Dollops of drops stippled rain surface ponds as misted valleys and shower soaked slopes slid mudded earth back to an ancient rolling sea which gave up it's plunder to the washed pale sand. Dim forest floor soft-green velvet-lush mounds of moss drizzle-dripped in watery gray light beneath a leafy canopy. Soggy slap and trickle rain hissed and steamed on pebble and rock as silent progress dripped-leaked through metal holes on rusted bolts. A siege of convulsing and tumbling rivulets streamed on daisy and weed and drench-soaked the fertile earth for a single eternal day of desert bloom. Pooling in puddles child-feet splashed by floated toy sailboat as face lifted to lick tongue drops. Slashing lashing rain in rivers of silver and cream sheet-washed panes beyond window seat pressed cheek and hot chocolate. Lovers lay languorously illuminated by a symphony of water amid a harmony of shadowed light. Misted wind swirled on sounds of trickling water as the trees shaken petals drifted in suspended dancing droplets of jeweled tears and the rain wept with the willow as the unveiling rainbows gave mosaic promise of tomorrow's blueberries. |
