30minutefics. The challenge: "Write an epilogue to the books, letting the readers know where everyone is in their lives ten years after the fall of Voldemort�who lives�who dies? It�s all in your hands." Nothing terribly out of the ordinary--I hadn't even decided if I was going to post that week.

shadowycat had to go and write a cliffhanger--leaving my poor, long-suffering OTC in a truly appalling predicament. And vehemently denying any plans to get him out of it.
Needless to say, I had to act. After all, do I not moderate my own community dedicated to rectifying just this sort of rampant Potions Master abuse? So down I sat, and started in on a spin-off sequel.
Things just spiralled out of control from there...
The Ten Years After Saga is a series of sequential ficlets, each written in 30 minutes (or thereabouts) by several different authors, which together form a fairly coherent story set ten years after the fall of Voldemort. The interesting thing about these fics is that they arose spontaneously, round-robin style, with minimal collaboration between authors. They also carry the story through the POV of numerous characters, both major and minor. And it's an open-ended series--anyone who wants to pick up the story and run with it is welcome to do so. I'm hoping to see it keep growing, with chapters focusing on characters not yet mentioned. (Want to participate?)
