  • Full Length Bio

Scott Stewart Bakula was born on October 9, 1954 in St Louis, Missouri.

When he was 4 years old, Scott's famous "hair streak" appeared virtually overnight.

Scott attended Kirkwood High School in St.Louis, Missouri. After high school Scott, attended a small college near St. Louis, taking business and pre-law. While at college, Scott got involved with a summer theater programme, and in 1973 he performed in his first play - Godspell. He caught the acting bug and soon changed his major to theater studies. In 1975, he was given the opportunity to do a national tour of Godspell; but the tour fell through. Scott continued to work in the theatre in the St. Louis area.

Scott travelled to New York in 1976 and was hired for a dinner theater tour of Shenandoah; his first professional acting job. Next came his first Broadway show, Marilyn: An American Fable (1983).

In the late 1970's and early 1980's, Scott guested on several TV shows and worked on a couple of soaps. However, landing Quantum Leap in 1985 made Scott a household name. During his stint as Doctor Sam Beckett, Scott earned the reputation of being the hardest working actor in Hollywood with the versatility and ability to play any type of role.

Scott comes from a musical family. Scott sings, plays piano and guitar. As a child, he started a rock band and took center stage in the musical Amahl and the Night Visitors. As a teenager, he sang with the St. Louis Symphony. He has appeared in numerous on- and off-Broadway shows. On Quantum Leap he sang on many occasions and he wrote the lyrics for "Somewhere in the Night" (seen in the Quantum Leap episode "Piano Man").

Scott established Bakula Productions Incorporated (BPI) in New York in 1994. Scott and Bakula Productions Inc. have a "first-look producing deal with Paramount Network Television." Scott and partner Tom Spiroff will develop and produce TV shows in all genres, with an emphasis on telefilms.
