David was born in Buffalo, NY on May 17, 1971. He is the youngest of 3 children (he has 2 older sisters). His father is a weather forecaster.
David was raised in Philadelphia. When he was 7 years old, David caught the acting bug after seeing Yul Bryner perform in "The King and I".
After graduating from Ithaca College, David moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of acting. In LA, David worked a variety of jobs. He parked cars, painted houses, handed out towels at a sports club.
David's first real part was as Kelly Bundy's biker boyfriend on the show "Married: With Children". Next came David's big screen debut, when he landed a part in Touchstone Pictures ski-bum comedy "Aspen Extreme".
However, David's real big break came when he was walking Bertha Blue (his dog), he was spotted by casting director from the new WB series - "Buffy: The Vampire Slayer". He was cast immediately in the role of Angel, the brooding vampire with a soul.
David now helms "Angel", the spin-off of "Buffy"

David was married to Ingrid Quinn. Ingrid is a former social worker, she currently works as a screenwriter.
David married Jamie Bergman in Palm Springs, California, during the last weekend of November, 2001. Jamie stars in the spoof comedy "Son of the Beach".
David and Jaime welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Jaden Rayne, Wednesday in Los Angeles. Little Jaden was born at 12:59 a.m. May 1, 2002 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
