| I travelled to the human world when I was eleven years of age. It was a great transition, since our resources about the humans were several centuries old. I was not in the least prepared for all that was about to happen. I came to live with a human foster family in a country known as the United States. Yes, there are indeed some elves who live among the humans, but they are very few. They govern themselves independently as well. They are led by their Queen, Shadow LeFae, also known as Niviene DeLan or Raine of Imladris, who was to become one of my best friends in this strange world. I was to be her courtier for the time being. However, it was also decided that I was to live among the humans as one of their own. As I mentioned before, my nocturnal nature was not useful to the kingdom, so we learned to use magic so that I could take on a separate identity as long as the sun could be seen. This identity became human. And thus I became Asrai d'Ayrienne, a girl who was almost human. It was not easy, though. I had to learn many different human languages and become accustomed to this entirely new way of life. Luckily, Shadow and some of my other elven kindred came to my aid, among them Erica Hughes or Arwen Undomiel, also known as Evenstar, and Thomas Mackintosh, Sir Enoa of Enilon, also known as Elfstone and Aragorn in a past life. We are all elven, sharing many customs and values, and we pledged each other siblinghood. We took an oath to always stand by each others' side. Yet I still miss my home. No one will ever be able to replace that. Someday I shall return, someday when the Elven Gates are opened once more. Then I shall be queen and married off, most likely. To whom, I do not yet know. There is no particular male, whether elven or human, who I truly love. Oh, Thomas is, but he is my brother by oath. Now the only link I have to my past life is a silver ring I wear on my left hand, which could open the Elven Gates in the utmost emergency. I have faced many hardships and learned many lessons. Hopefully, I will be a good Queen when the time comes. |
