By Request
An Evening of Music

The WCT will cap a highly successful season with a benefit show, By Request An Evening of Music, Saturday, June 2, at 8:00pm in Sopchoppy. We have had many requests to do a show featuring songs, dances, and performers from our eight major musicals, and this seems a great time to do it!

By Request is truly a trip down memory lane, and has resulted in a reunion of the present troupe with several of the principal actors from earlier shows beginning with Hello Dolly! in 1994. Rod Stelter as Vandergelder will sing tunes from this popular show. Dolly was followed by Guys and Dolls in 1995 and Oklahoma in 1996. Rusty Howell, who played the leading role as Curly, returns after an absence of several years to sing favorites Oh, What a Beautiful Morning and Oklahoma!

The WCT moved to its new home, the Historic Sopchoppy School, in 1997, and produced South Pacific that same year, featuring leads Mina Sutton and Gene Lambert, and Linda Rhea as Bloody Mary.

Now the WCT is joining efforts to continue the restoration of this magnificent, 70-year-old building. All proceeds from this show will be used toward a local match for a State Historic Preservation Grant of $222,000, which was recently awarded to the School Board.

Songs from the beautiful Camelot in 1998 are highlighted by the return of Randy Kirk, who starred as King Arthur in one of the theatres most memorable performances.

Favorites from My Fair Lady (probably our most popular show ever) will be sung by the multi-talented Mina Sutton, who also gave a superb performance in this years Kiss Me Kate!

Pajama Game (2000) introduced our audiences to a talented young couple, Crystal and Alan Nelson of Tallahassee. They quickly became part of our WCT family. Hear them again in By Request.

We are excited about this show! It is fast-paced and entertaining, with several ensemble and dance numbers mixed in for variety!

Dont miss By Request. You will be amazed at the talent we have right here at home! Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door. For ticket information, call the theatre office at 962-2151. * * *
