He always made my day brighter and lighter! I haven't been interested to any pets until I had one and I am so thankful to my honey for adopting this little fellow for me.
That was August 17, 2004 in Seattle when we spotted a ferret in the pet store all alone in the cage. I could still remember that he was trying to get our attention and wanted to come out his cage when we're just looking around. I thought- poor little guy he must have been too lonely coz he's the only one left out of the 3 kits. And guess what?. . . found ourselves shopping ferret's stuff and was so excited taking him home! The next day, I named him Nibly from the word 'nibble' - He always wanted to nibble my toe on his first week at home. It almost freaked me out that I have to wear socks to hide my toe. Well, I had to deal with it since he's my only company when Russell's at work, until he stopped nibbling. Day after day, I've learned to appreciate his presence because I found him so special. He is a loving and a very good companion. You'll never felt alone although he's gone sleeping most of the time but whenever you'll need him, he's always there to hold and cuddle. My favorite is when he's fall asleep. I'm always tempted to carry him in my arms like a little baby. When half awake 'with one open eye' he would licked my nose and yawns a lot which is so cute. At bed time while me and Russell's watching movie he's use to curled himself beside my leg and get warmth under the sheets.
We also have our morning routine. When I start making up the bed he'd love messing up with the pillows and sheets. He'll jump, bounce, roll over and dig as if he's trying to hid something. If you are a stranger, you'd thought he's angry, scared or hurt but it's just a ferret way of showing how happy and energetic they are. He would stop messing in the bed when I'm done and will wait for his breakfast treat.
Nibly is sometimes an early bird. He would wake me up by tickling my feet or sprawls in the bed - that means, it's play time! :) Speaking of play time, he loves toys and would stick to something he really likes. So, you'd better watch some of your things coz he's like a thief. He would hide it somewhere that no one can find it 'except me' :) He would always sleep with his favorite toy.
Nibly is intelligent and smart. He knows where to go eat . . . his bed . . . and to go 'pp' that you don't have to worry about when you're away. We don't put him in a cage since he arrived and he was pretty much behave. However, there is a ferret rule that- every corner is an emergency! So, every now and then I have to do a corner patrol to find out which corner of the house needs a rescue! It wasn't too bad at least it's hidden, you know- our little secret :)
There are plenty of things to know about Nibly. The more love and affection you show to him, the more he will show to you and the friendlier he will be to everybody. |
