Many people have asked me why I choose to catagorise my work as "fictional history". The answer is both simple and complex. "Historical fiction" tends to focus on known historical figures, retelling verified history from a different point of view. It was obvious from the beginning that my work did not follow this formula. However, it also did not fit the traditional formula of fantasy literature. Stranded as it was between two seemingly opposite genres, I did the only thing I could: I created a new label.
It is called "Fictional History" because it didn't happen but it could have happened.
